The Tascam 788 is a stand alone hard-disk based digital workstation. It is the only 8-track I know of that is TRUE 24 bit. I have all of the original packaging and documentation as well as the matching Tascam external CDRW burner with all of the approriate cables.
I have used this unit for all...
I'm trying a bunch of experiments with my Tascam 788 to see if I can get some raw tracks that might be high enough sound quality to mix in a studio for a new CD.
I've never been happy with direct recording from an amp, but the Roland JC 90 has a stereo line out so I thought I'd give it a shot...
I've been playing around with this for the last couple days. I'm thinking of sending it out as part of my seasons greeting so I'd really appreciate some feedback from some of the great ears around here. Thanks.

I've spent the last 18 months trying to put together my own line of guitars. They're based on a longer than usual scale length (27 inches), and although they're electrics, the focus has been on producing a lot of natural acoustic zing. There's both a 7 string and a 6 string model and assembly...
After years of playing nothing but electric 7 string, I picked up a 6 string acoustic on Monday. This popped three days later. It's about as far from my normal fare as I can possibly get.

I guess it comes in waves because this is my fourth new recording in about a week. It's back to me and the 7 string recorded live. The song is Jimm Van Heusen's Polka Dots And Moonbeams. It was one of the very first hits in Frank Sinatra's career and the first of over 200 Van Heusen songs...
I recorded this in Los Angeles in 1992. I listened to it today for the first time in almost 10 years. It was a lot better than I remember it and makes me wish that I had somehow gotten it out of the can.

This is the latest song I've added to my current list. It's an old Frank Sinatra number that resurfaced about 10 years ago on a CD that BB King did with Dianne Schurr. It's really typical of a sound that I refer to as "Cocktail Blues". It's a sound I've loved for years and I seem to have...
This is probably the most romantic song I know. This is the first ime I've tried recording it. Unfortunatley, because of the absurd arangement, it's ridiculously hard on my hands, so I can really only do it as a single take. It's not perfect, but I kind of like it...
I finally dug out some of the demo recordings I made in LA in 92 with a full band. I was still playing 6 string at the time and my music hadn't gotten as laid back as it is now. I was still smoking like a fiend, so the vocals are very different.
I'm going to be transferring a bunch of them...
I used to play this on 6 sting. It was one of many songs that seemed to fall by the way side after I switched to 7 string. I pulled it out about a month ago and re-arranged it completely. I cut it in one take about 20 minutes ago. I liked it so I thought I'd put it up and see anyone else agrees...
Just trying a bunch of different recording ideas with a quick take on an old favorite song of mine.

I've just spent the last hour or so trying to get a better eq/mix on the vocals. I like the performance, but it sounded pretty dull on my challenge version. I'm trying to get a lot more sparkle without sacraficing the natural ambiance. Unfortunately, I've now heard it enough times that I have...
