    d-string sounds wobbly?

So I recently put a new humbucker in my guitar bridge position. I put on new strings, set the pickup height and intonation. Everything went well, but now when I play, my d-string sounds like its oscillating or wobbly sounding. Any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix it? Thanks in...

    too many cymbals

Anyone have a drummer that hits his cymbals more often than he hits his drums? Well I do, and it's starting to get on my nerves. If I say something he'll come up with some long-winded excuse about how Niel Peart has tons of cymbals. What's the best way to tell him without hurting his feelings...

    SVT 4 Pro...anyone change tubes?

Was wondering if anyone has tried out some different tubes in the preamp on this amp. My bass players' sound is kinda farty and poppy. He has had this amp for over 4 years now and I was wondering if maybe he needed some new 12ax7's in it or something. Any advice? Thanks, B

    Cleaning up the mud....

I'm having a really hard time with the Bass drum. It sounds great until the double bass starts kicking, then it sounds all muddy. Is this something a noise gate would take care of, to help tighten up the kick? What are some other peoples methods for cleaning up the mud? Thanks in advance. B

    X-over help

I just got a behringer cx3400 crossover for my live sound setup. I have 2 mains and a sub. My question is, do I run this x-over in stereo 2 way or 3 way? I really don't understand, cause looking at the manual does'nt explain what to do if you only have one sub. Thanks, B

    Too dead

So I put a pillow in the kick drum cause I was getting too much resonance in the recordings, but I think the pillow made it sound too dead. The pillow was longer than the bass drum itself so I have like 1/4 of the pillow folded and resting against the beater head and just touching the resonant...

    Where do I put everything?

Okay so I have the room treated with floor to cieling bass traps, absorbers at the reflection points, and a few high freq. absorbers on the long walls. The room is 19X10 and I have set the mixing station so the speakers are firing the long distance of the room toward the door. The room is used...

    Absorbers at the reflection points

I built the bass traps in all the corners, but now I need to build the absorber panels at the first reflection points. My question is, what type of absorber do I need to build? Mid-high, high bass, or other? Thanks for your help! B

    Bass trap question

So I built some floor to cieling bass traps this weekend and they came out real nice. 3 of them are 2 ft wide by 7.5 ft. tall, I also built one that is only 1 ft wide by 7 ft. tall (because I have an AC unit like 10 inches from the corner). They are all 4" thick mineral wool and framed and...

    Anybody use these?

So I have a very small budget and I'm lookin at these Behringer B-5 Condenser Microphones for like $90 each. I want to use them for drum overheads to mainly pick up cymbals. I'm sure I'll probably get flamed for this, but does anyone use these? Are they any good or total crap? Thanks in advance. B

    Meters in cubase

So I've been reading alot about recording levels in the digital realm and I understand that I want to be around -18dbfs. But in cubase it does'nt tell you if the meters are dbvu or dbfs. I am assuming that they are dbvu meters because when I set my mixer signal to 0dbvu it comes out about the...

    Macro help

Is there a way to write a macro to arm all 8 tracks for record ready? I'm using Cubase SX 1.06 (lol) and I can't seem to find a command for it. I'd like to be able to open a new project and just hit record (instead of arming each track first, and then hitting record). Any help would be...
