I realize this isn't about home recording, but am I the only one that finds Vegas Video to be an extremely underrated product? Everyone seems to latch on to Premiere and AVID, but I prefer Vegas to both of them... Just wanted to vent.

Am I the only one absolutely amazed by the quality of this mic, especially considering it only costs $10. Then again, it's the first mic I've ever bought, so if I ever end up moving up to something better I'll probably be changing my tune.

My personal favorite WAV recorder is Cool Edit Pro. Just wanted to voice an opinion. :) Question: I plan on doing something similar... would I lose anything by going from the headphone jack instead of the line outs? EDIT: As far as burning goes, Nero Burning Rom is my personal preference.

That's odd, I've yet to encounter anything from Gator. If it's there, it's from CJB.net's ads, considering my website is on ad-free space. I'm going to run Ad-aware and check and see if I already have Gator's crap installed.

Yep. The repairman's first words "Okay, how old is this thing?" certainly weren't a good sign. So much stuff is worn out on the tape drive that I'd have to buy an entirely new one, which will be near impossible. I'm still going to use it as a mixer, however.

Hey, I have a question about the X-12 over the X-14. I read that the X-12 has a larger flywheel. How much of a difference does that make in the recorder?

Well, I got a smaller belt... same problem :-( But now I notice that when I try to rewind, the player jams up until I hold down the rewind button. Maybe whatever powers the left prong that turns the cassette (whatever it's called:) is getting stuck somehow thus explaining why the speed is warbling.
