I just got some information that some of you may be interested in:

Brent Casey (formally of MXL microphones) has joined Alan Hyatt at Studio Projects. And he'll be checking in regularly here as part of his job.

Since Brent was the guiding force behind most of the MXL mics, you'll be able to get the straight scoop on the Marshall mics, as well as getting answers to a lot of your Studio Project questions. Quite a few of you probably already know Brent if you've had dealings with MXL.

Brent is a no BS technical guy that I think will be a big asset to this forum, and he's a great recording engineer as well.

Nice!

edit:

Did Alan actually leave permanently? I must have missed that. I just figured he was busy.

Just when I thought things were getting dull around here . . .

Yes, I did leave HR LT. I won't go into why, and I am sure I won't be back other than a few drops like this every so often, but Brent Casey will be very helpful here.

If you or anyone else cares to, I have a forum now on Recording with Harvey, Malcolm Toft and Stephen Paul said he would assist as well. I expect Alan Bradford to hook up with us also. He is a long time designer from Neve and also did the CLM Dynamics designs.

The forum is called "Designing The Future". It is in the Designers Corner of the forum. So go to the following page, scroll down and chime in. We would love to have you.

Kick Butt!

I've missed you around here Alan, but certainly don't blame you for spending your time in other places. :) Looking forward to meeting Brent, as well. I love the internet...

Take care,
Chris

Okay, I was going to drop some really poor taste SPAM humor, but I will refrain.

Thanks for clearing that up Alan. I appreciate the time that you spent here.

Unfortunately, I can't join you guys over at recording.org because I'm a cheap bastard. Best of luck to you all though. :)

Give Brent a few days to get going. He is busy getting new office furniture. I had to clear out my vintage room to make an office for him. Brent has a lot of great ideas and can help many of you out there. In fact, you will see some of his ideas very soon in the way of new product.

We are out next week to attend the NAMM Show, so hang tight. Brent will chime in soon.

You are wrong LT. The recording.org is back to being FREE!!! :D :D :D

Hook up and join in again...no charge..Really! We would love to see you there.

Double Nice!!!

Now that's customer service!

edit: No Chessrock, I am not a plant.

Let's try to get it right this time, folks

We should just consider him a technical resource in relation to SP products, just as we ( or I, at least ) consider Alan to be.

I was always glad to see Alan's input on topics, and was sorry to see him go. I hope Brent will be more warmly received, and look forward to hearing what he has to say.

If you think he's a shill, just ignore him, but let the rest of us make up our own minds, thank you.

I already have one piece of advice to Brent before he even gets here:

Please, do NOT give multiple names to the same Studio Projects models . . . I don't care how much the retailers complain about the whole price-matching thing. I rather like the idea of having a Studio Projects C1, C3, B1, TB-1, etc. It is all rather logical and makes sense to the general masses. :)

I'm just imagining right now the onslought of newbs posting thread after thread asking: "Is the Studio Projects C1 the same as the C1M?" "Why is C1 Silver and the C1M Green and Gold?"

Also, now that you're sharing the same bed, so to speak with a former competitor, I must tell you right now: No food fights, hair pulling, spitting, etc. You are on the same team now, remember? :)

Out of idle curiousity, what was Brent Casey's position at Marshall Electronics?

chessrock,
in response to your model number issue. Sometimes that is a little "game" the big retailers play... (Circuit City used to do this all the time.)

Say you work with Mars, you strike a deal with MXL and get them to throw an "M" on the model you are about to buy a bazillion pieces of. Maybe even make it a different color. Then, not only do you have an "exclusive" item, but you can safely say "we will NOT be undersold". "Well, sorry Mr. Recorder, but the price you have quoted there is for the G model, not the M.

I know ;) And I'm pleading with him not to play it any more.

Does this mean we could look foreward to some high quality small diaphram condensers from Studio Projects. If so Ive got dibbs on the first matched pair.

I called it first.

Allen, I know you took a lot of unjustified heat around here. I wish you'd stick around.

So do I Alan. I enjoyed reading all of your informative posts. Please don't let the actions of a few antagonists drive you away from this board.

And the first person that runs ANY of these guys off should be banned permanently from this bbs!
