I learnt a tune called the "Irish Jig" and "The Red Haired Boy" both Irish tunes, it sounds awesome when played!

I feel like a real Irish jig type person! :D

and like honedawg said go to mandolin cafe. tons of info there.

:D :D :D

The Red Haired Boy is usually a reel (4/4), not a jig (or to be more accurate, a double jig, which is 6/8).

However, if it sounds good, it's all good, so don't bother too much about the terminology.

Dan,

You're a modest man. ;)

If the rest of you want hear a real mandolin player, listen to dtb's playing on this song that he allowed me to write lyrics for, and he also allowed me to sing, play bass and acoustic guitar.

I have an identical mandolin to dtb, but when it comes to mandolin playing.....dtb is the man!

The River

some mandolin players could teach the metal guitar dudes a thing or five about speed too!
