Well, the 1st pictures are up... www.dbxpro.com/minipre.htm
Looks pretty nice, but awfully similar to the MP.
Hey Tom, since you're looking at this (I knew you couldn't resist!) how about checking with your engineer friends and finding out what model, if any, this thing was designed after, and if the tube is inline or one of those deals where its not a big part of the unit. Any info you can get, and I mean any! Sorry if I'm driving you nuts, but you're a great resource!!! Still looking forward to your review, too. Give us a good comparison to the 3 and 500 series.
Peace,
Paul

This is what I know,

The mini pre was designed mostly for GC as part of our "accessory" line. I'm sure you'll see other stores carry it, but it was in response to a direct request from them. The tube is in series (good) in the circuit path, not parallel (bad). I haven't got a beta tester yet, but I'm sure I will soon. Marketing has been debating whether to call it a tube pre or a tube D.I. Who cares? It's 100 bucks!:D

I've been thinking of picking up a couple MXL 2001's and a couple mini pre's for my talkback system. That would be a huge step up from what have now, a RadShack sm48 knockoff and a DOD SR606.

Gee Tom, no offense, but it gives me the willies that it looks like such a direct copy of the Tube MP. This seems like a marketing blunder. Is there something about it that is supposedly superior to the MP ? (no tech specs on the page).

Peace,
Rick

I wonder..

I wonder if this thing had serious thought and effort put behind it, or if its just an easy money thing for GC. What do you think? I hope it sounds fanatastic.
At least the tubes are inline.
