Acoustic guitar resonance

I've got my guitar freshened up with new strings and got it tuned correctly.
I keep hearing dominant tones.

I thought it might has something to do with the acoustic treatment but no matter where I play my guitar, I keep hearing these dominant tones when I strum the guitar.

For example, if I strum the Asus2*chord back and forth, I can hear a dominant tone and a frequency analyzer comfirms it @ 987.77Hz
I used to EQ these dominant frequencies with my old recordings, but I want it to be recorded as good as I can get because it also cuts aways some good sounds.

Is anyone familiar with this and perhaps know how I can solve this problem? ( without EQ ofcourse )
Thank you

Isn't that the open B string of the Asus2 chord?

Are the "dominant tones" you hear directly related to open strings VS fretted ones?

Yes, the B string seems to cause the resonance.
If I were to play Cmaj, I get the same resonance, except that it's pitched one note higher.

Come over to the Guitar Forum and ask Muttley, he's a personal friend of mine ;) :D (inside joke)...

...he's the acoustic guitar "guru", he might have some insight (honestly).

Oh...and MAKE SURE, you tell him I sent you! :)

"MAKE SURE, you tell him I sent you!"
Yeah right, the last time I heard that one was in The legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time when a soldier offers a discount on a shield. :P ( joke )

Maybe I've just got a bad resonating guitar, everything is tuned correctly.
It just resonates like crazy that tends to cause alot of rumble-ish sound.

Thanks for your advice, I'll ask him that. :)

:D

No really...you'll get bonus points if you mention my name to him. ;)

An acoustic guitar is a guitar that uses only acoustic methods to project the sound produced by its strings. The term is a retronym, coined after the advent of electric guitars, which rely on electronic amplification to make their sound audible.

Dude, we are kindred spirits. I always hated that shield because he would just do that stupid duck thing :laughings:

What guitar do you have?
