    Multiple Delta cards with Cubase?

Running Cubase 5.1 on Win2000 with Delta 66. Everything is working fine. Wondering whether or not adding a Delta 44 would work - I want the extra IO.... My understanding is that it should - anyone ever done this?

    Remote for Cubase - PhatBoy?

Hi, I'm looking for a good remote for Cubase, to control the track and master faders (preferably the ability to start/stop recording, too, but that's optional) I know the PhatBoy has some knobs, and I think I can make it work, but is there anything that has faders and buttons and is reasonably...

Keyboard rec for a friend's daughter

A friend of mine's daughter is a music student in highschool at a Performing Arts school. She wants to get her a keyboard for Christmas without breaking the bank and she's asked me for recomendations. What she wants is a nice feeling keyboard, preferably 88 keys and a reasonable selection of...

Cheap and Good 8+ XLR Mixer

Hi, all. Long time (busy, busy, busy) I'm doing mixing now for my church - cool, get to get used to doing some live stuff, no problem (though the ministers keep passing the lapel mike back and forth and it is tricky trying to figure out who has it sometimes :) ). However, they've got a 4...

    Cubuse Metronome?

Hi, all Sometimes when using the metronome (using MIDI, just for the count in, on recording) I end up getting the last bit of the beat recorded by the microphones in the room. I would have thought that the recording wouldn't start until the last beat? Is there anything I can do about this?

Preamp for live use - horn

Hi, all. This is more of a live sound question then a home recording question, but someone might know. I'm looking for a preamp I can put between the mixer and the SM58 we're using to mic my fiancee's trumpet (yes, more trumpet fun) I'd really like for her to be able to control the volume on...

Polished up, ready for a listen

I'm still new at this mixing stuff, but I've done much more polishing on the song now and would love it if someone gave it a listen. Country/folk song from a singer/songwriter named Amy Jacobs, who is in the unfortunate state of not being able to afford a better recording studio then mine :)...

OldGrover finally puts up - Please take a listen. Country/folk singer/songwriter

Finally got permission to put up some stuff I'm recording. This is my first take in my new, organized setup... original singer/songwriter (not me). Country/folk Please let me know what you think.... this isn't a final cast in stone mix, but it certainly is an indication of the direction...

Organization - patchbays and such.. opinions on my evil plan solicited

Ok, so I'm smoking along now, love the sound I'm getting (I need to get permission from the artists to post some stuff here) but I am starting to feel I've got too much chaos, that might be answerable by a patchbay. I've got an original Mackie 1604 mixer, a delta-66 and I record and monitor...

    Mixdown levels

Hi, guys Ok, I've got a recording which is quite hot when I play it back (peaks at -.5 or so), sounds great. However, when I mixdown to wav (going from 24 bit to 16 bit, btw) the sound gets MUCH quieter when I play the wav file back. Now, I play the wav file back using my SB128 PCI, but...

    Delta66 + ntrack + win2000 = WORKS!

Wheee. Upgraded to Win2000 over the weekend and all of a sudden everything works. Under 98 I was having huge stability and latency problems with n-track - under 2000 I am getting less then 7ms latency (basically, I can't hear it) on the LIVE function even with effects - very cool. I sound...

    Yamaha PSR series

Anyone have any comments on the Yamaha PSR series? I've got a PSR-740 and I quite like it, but I'm beginning to think I could have spent my money better elsewhere. It has some bells and whistles I really don't need (I really don't need a sequencer - I have a PC - I really don't need a vocoder...

    Using VST instruments with N-Track

Is this possible? I know N-Track uses VST plugins, but is that just effects? Can you use a VST virtual synth?

Trumpet players are a pain... sound absorbtion help needed

Hi, all As many of you may know, I've got a basic bedroom studio with an Auralex sound treatment and it has been working great. Now, however, my fiancee's jazz instructor has been getting her to do schwartzendos (sp?) which is basically a very loud accent on the note. When I say very loud, I...

    Smallest Control room?

What's the SMALLEST control room that it is practical to have monitors in? Right now, I've got a one room studio - no seperate control room. However, it may get to the point where I'll get up the energy to finish the basement - which isn't THAT big either (after the workshop, furnace...

Using a Mixer instead of a Patchbay (long post)

Ok, here's what I have : * n-track recording software * 2 x Yorkville YSM-1 studio nearfield monitors * Yorkville CR-5 "utility" amp - nice match to the YSM-1s in my opinion * Yamaha PSR-740 - L/R output, used for piano sounds, plus some auto-accomp (more for jamming then recording, but some...

    Horn Mics

Ok, I've had some reasonable success with the SM-58 as a trumpet mic, but there's a little problem. When the trumpet player is playing, she REALLY plays - she doesn't sit still and aim that trumpet at the mic. I can get her to do so, but it sort of stiffles the sound. Now, electric guitar...

    Yorkville YSM-1 + Yorkville SR-300?

OK, I've got to get some monitors. I just blew some money on a Mackie 1604 (not VLZ Pro, unfortunately - I bought this one used, but couldn't afford the VLZ Pro, even used) So I've been reading through the discussions on here, and liked the sound of the Yorkville YSM-1's. Of course, those...

    Lighting, lighting, lighting

Something I just learned from experience - make sure you think about lighting before you start doing your work. Black or dark accoustical foam really seems to suck up the light in a room and a room that was painted white gets a whole lot darker. I had that problem, but found a relatively cheap...

    Behringer MX602 Mixer?

Is this mixer any good? I'm looking for a small mixer with nice preamps for doing some small recording setups at live gigs and a few other places - just a general purpose mixer, but a small footprint is definitely an asset. I've seen some decent reviews of it, but decided to ask this august...
