Right on so I downloaded SampleTank 3 Free and it's got its own files of sounds, but I can't seem to figure out how to assign sounds to the pads. Is there a way to do this?
I am working with a mac, protools 9, m-audio fast track ultra, and an Akai mpd26.
Here's what I am trying to do: Use the Akai mpd26's drum pads to trigger sounds that I have .wav audio files of saved on my Itunes.
SO my question is, how do I assign a specific sound to a specific trigger...
Yep, so its been a bit since I've been on here, and I have found that using the USB to Host jack, it does MIDI just fine. So now I need some sounds. Any suggestions on a good percussion VST or orchestral one? Like to keep it as affordable as possible, but not afraid to pay for quality. Thanks...
Alright just figured it out - apparently I just had to unplug it, turn it off, close down PT, the replug it back in and open it all up again. - Not really sure what happened but its working now. Thanks for your help Steen I really appreciate it!
Also just opened up the Fastrack driver thing under system preferences and when I hit the 'Monitor 1/2" tab, it says that there is a signal (I can affect the faders/knobs etc) however when I go into the "monitor 3/4" tab everything is grayed out i.e. it doesn't even register that there IS a 3/4...
It is not a new setup, but I did break it down and rebuild it in a new room today. Yes, I used to get signals into the 3 and 4 spot, but haven't tried for a while, and I don't think the interface is broken, but I don't really know now haha.
I went to the I/O settings and delete them all, hit...
Recording a band today. However, for some reason I cannot get a signal to process in the 3rd and 4th inputs of my interface (a fastrack ultra). The mics are working fine (they send a signal when plugged into the 1st and 2nd input) but the third and fourth will not even register a signal. What...
Those are all good suggestions. By live I just meant the full band in the "studio" not with an audience - sorry I should have been more specific. I was thinking of doing all the instruments separately then doing vocal overlay afterwards (as DM60 said) but I'm worried that I won't get the best...
everybody's gonna jump on me but I have behringer truth monitors - ran about 200 a piece. I assume they aren't the best for the price, but I must say they have a great response and I was very surprised by them. they sound a bit fuller than KRK's of the same level in my opinion
I am recording a band in a week or so for the first time and was wondering on the best potential setup. I have tracked individual instruments plenty of times and am alright at mic position etc, but I will be recording 2 guitars, drums, and 2 vocals live which is new to me. My problem is mic...
hey so I posted this on the keyboard forum about a week ago to no response. I have a Yamaha P105 and when I bought I was mainly planing on using it as an electric piano for practicing and writing, but now wisely decided to use it for recording. However, I found that it is not equipped with MIDI...
I've got a tophat ambassador combo. Its sexual. really good modern fender-y sound but a little less jangly (which a good thing in my opinion) and great response to attack. ........ I'm gonna go play with it now.....
Ok so I have a Yamaha P105 and I love it, but I just tried to connect to my computer with some MIDI cables, and, gasp, no MIDI hookups. I know exactly nothing about MIDI or digital recording (I'm more of a mic-in-front-of-an-amp guy) but I did want to start using my keyboard to orchestrate my...
Ok, so I fell out of home recording for a few months etc etc. Anyway, I have some songs, song ideas and the like, and what is driving me crazy is that I want to 'produce' them with a bit more going on. Adding strings, horns, percussion, drones and the like. Of course, I don't own a wide array of...
Hey, so I'm on PT9 for mac and I jammed for about an hour, and later recorded a track that I want to export to Itunes as an mp3 file. However, I don't want to export the whole project (and don't want to just delete the jam part because there is stuff I want to keep). Is there anyway to isolate...
Wow, thanks for all the info guys!
I have a couple mics, cables and stands now, but will definitely need more. I do think that 8 inputs at the moment will serve my needs, and although Bobbsy did say I will eventually want 16 (and I know he's right in that assumption) I think the extra cost is...
Ouch. I'm going to assume that you're playing quite large venues? (200 people seems like a medium sized gig, is 4000 watts necessary for that sized crowd, or do you a lot of headroom?) Or is that about normal for a quality PA to play bars, clubs and parties and whatnot?
So in the event that I decided to build it up piece by piece, would it be better to buy a powered mixer or passive? What are the benefits to active vs passive mixers (and active vs powered speakers, too)? Is there a better sound quality/reliability having the active end on the mixer vs the...
