hey, how's it going guys? i have too many questions, so i'll try to separate everything to make it easier to read...
first of all, i've got a 24 channel soundcraft ghost (without automation) that i'm basically just using for its pres, and some very minimal EQ...everything else is being done in...
hey guys, how's it going?
i couldn't really find much about this thing anywhere, but it seems like most people either liked it or just hadn't heard it - i don't think i came across any negative reviews (or maybe there was only one).
i'm just curious if any of you have/had one, and what you...
so...i haven't been recording very long, and this was probably my 3rd time tracking. i used some pretty bad mic technique - the kick drum sound was horrible, lots of bleed in the snare mic, vocals are wayyy to sibilant.
i've remixed it a bunch of times but haven't been able to get sounds that...
i know theres probably a simple explanation for this...but i can't figure it out ;]
you know, to the left of every track, the little individual mini mixer windows with cut/solo/level/EQ/effects? mine disappeared for no apparant reason. i can view one at a time by right clicking a track and...
hey, how's it going guys?
today, i was recording my friends band, and no matter what i did, i couldn't get rid of this hissing noise coming into my DAW, but only on channels 3+4. it just sounded like the preamp gain was up too high or something.
mics -> soundcraft ghost 24 -> RME multiface ->...
i have some drum tracks i recorded with some silence at the beginning. i would like to erase the silence and have the tracks slide back to the beginning, but i can't figure out how to do this...?
thanks :]

hmm...if i zoom in on a track file, i can't find a way to minimize it again afterwards. i have to close and reopen the file to do so.
i know theres gotta be a way to do it, i'm just blind or something.
if i didn't make my problem clear, i'll be more specific...
and thanks in advance for the...
hey guys, i think this will be my last console question for now, lol. thanks to everyone who's been helping me out...
whats a pretty good price for a soundtracs topaz 24x8 without the meter bridge? the one i'm looking at apparantly has a few LEDs out on one channel, but thats the only thing...
based on what i've read on here about them, sound-wise and price-wise, i was thinking i'd order one for kick.
then i also read that they were pretty good for toms. and since they're significantly cheaper than 421s (if i'm going to be needing 3 of them), i thought that they might be a good idea...
i posted this over in the mixing forum too but i didn't get any responses. figured i'd try over here cause it is a pretty newbie question, heh.
anyways, i think i wanna get me a mixer before i start buying mics or outboard gear or anything.
i basically want something that i can continue to use...
while i'm very still new to recording, i want to get something that i won't outgrow and have to replace any time soon, as i'm pretty sure that this is something i'll want to continue to do for quite some time. i think i want my first gear purchase to be a mixing console, and it seems like this...
basically, i'm just learning the basics of recording right now. i don't even know if i'm using the right terminology, lol. but anyways, even though i know just about nothing about this stuff so far, i wanted to get a good sound card so that i won't need to upgrade it if i keep going with this...
i know that there are a lot of people who own more than one, but would you ever need more than one at a time if you were doing each instrument separately?
and i'm a newbie, in case that wasn't obvious. plenty more questions like this coming soon :]
thanks,
-mike
