I forgot I'd started this thread, DOH.
Anyway, thanks for those links SonicAlbert they were just what I wanted. I now understand EQ'ing and have got some very pleasing results straight away.
Thanks for the other link to BBs articles and thanks to BB for writing them :)
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I know there aint no set rules for EQ'ing n stuff it's just that I want to know what I'm doing so that when I want to change something I know why I'm doing it and which way to turn etc.
Does anybody know of a resource somewhere where I can find out about which frequencies to boost and cut for certain sounds?
I have a Boss GT8 and it has 3 EQ's, I know the general idea of boosting/cutting lows, mids n highs but I've no idea which frequencies to choose to boost/cut.
I've just bought a JC120 off ebay but I don't know what all the inputs/outputs are for on the back. I went to the roland site to d/l the manuals but it seems mine is the old version and is different.
I have two sockets for ext. speakers, 1 line out socket, 3 sockets for footswitches and two...
Hey, I've noticed that when I mixdown to mp3 the sound quality is quite poor in places. Like in several places of the file the volume seems to drop. What causes this or is it something you have to live with when converting to mp3 from wav?
Also, call me the newb that I am but do mp3 files...
Thanks, I thought it was probably that but I wondered if there was something in cooledit. Doesn't matter I'll just turn down the mic volume in there then.
What do you have to turn down on your computer to change the signal level coming in?
I run out of the emulation line out of an AVT amp and go into the mic input of my PC and the signal coming into CoolEdit is too loud but I don't wanna turn the volume down on my amp and lose the tone.
Thanks.
p.s. I'm not trying to cheat :) (well, kinda) It's just that I'm a beginner and I wanted to have the stuff sounding good without taking too long.
To give my recording more ooomph I want to try the thing where you rec'd your guitar left, right and down the middle. My question is this: is it possible to bounce a track down from stereo into the left or right? The reason I ask this is that I'm a novice guitarist and my timing sux so it...
I've bought the SD-1 for £40.
When you use these Boss pedals do you have to use the Boss adapters or can you use another? I know if you don't use the Boss one and sommat goes wrong your warranty is no good but is it just a recommendation to use theirs?
The reason I've chosen these two pedals is because there is only one shop round here that sells much of a selection of pedals and they have nearly all boss with the odd one of something else. They have these 2, and they are very popular so that's why I got it down to these. There may be many...
Which do you guys think is best/prefer out of the TS-9 tubescreamer and the Boss superoverdrive?
I already have a distortion pedal so I want just a nice overdrive pedal to go with it or to go infront of my amps distortion to give a solo boost/tone enhancer. And to give a clean boost when I...
