Signal Level

Locking Nut

What do you have to turn down on your computer to change the signal level coming in?

I run out of the emulation line out of an AVT amp and go into the mic input of my PC and the signal coming into CoolEdit is too loud but I don't wanna turn the volume down on my amp and lose the tone.

Cool Edit Pro has no volume adjustment. You'll have to insert a stage with a volulme control (such as a mixer) between the source and the sound card input.

Input volume

On your Windows mix board recording control:
Line in Volume control
Or microphone volume control (when you use this one for recording)
You can adjust them while test recording by turning on Levels on play and recording. Of course, you can see hoe its being recorded on your track.

You can open your windows mix board from cool edit too:
OPTIONS/WINDOWS RECORDING MIXER

Anyway there are a lot of ways to do it.

Remember that when you first open your windows mix board you'll see Play control board.
Then you have to go to the alternatives and change it to recording control board.

It's there you adjust your input signal!

Thanks, I thought it was probably that but I wondered if there was something in cooledit. Doesn't matter I'll just turn down the mic volume in there then.
