    Multiple sound cards

Hey all I am using Cubase SX 1.6 (I think...lol) with an Echo Layla24. I just added an E-MU 0404 which gives me an extra two inputs. The only problem is, I am unable to use both cards at the same time.....Am I missing something... How do I enable both cards within Cubase? Thanks for any help. Lee.

    Distortion Pedal Mods.

Hey all I have an MT-2 played through a JCM2000. The MT-2 sounds a little.....crap...although I liked the initial sound of it, so I thought of getting it modded by Robert Keeley. I listened to his samples (of before and after mod) and they basically sound like a volume increase more than...

    Mics on a Cab Speaker?

I attached a picture that I found on Steve Vai's website. It's of a guitar cab being mic'ed with three microphones. My question is, would there be a phase issue with this type of setup? Would phase have to be switch on any of the mics and if they are panned in any way, would this cause phase...

    Ready for Mastering

This should be an easily answered question....hopefully....:-) What should I do or not do to my mix's before I send them for Mastering? Currently I treat each individual track as I need to to get my desired mix, then I make sure the volume is as high as I can get it without clipping....then I...

    Amp or pedal for distortion???

Hey all I have a quick question.....call it curiosity... When you all record a distorted guitar, do you use the distortion from your amp or do you use an effects pedal? The only reason I ask is that I have a Marshall JCM200 dsl, and I hate the distortion it produces....I have a Metal Zone...

    Phase in and out.....

I have a question about phase issues. My main problamatic area is in the distorted guitar tracks. I have one player recorded with two mics and panned mainly to the left, another player also recorded with two mics panned mainly to the right. Now obviously in stereo this sounds great, but in...

    Recording bass....stuff...

I'm a guitarist so please excuse my bassless knowledge...... Whenever I record a bass track, I use a Bass Pod directly into the soundcard. The sound is ok, bit I would like to combine that sound with a bass amp/cab/combo, but as with most people....not much money to play with. Have any of you...

    More horses....

Hey I am running a Pentium mother board with an Intel Pentium 2.4ghz processor, but I am finding that on projects with loads of tracks, I am running at 80-90% processor utilization. I was thinking about getting a second 2.4ghz processor and then a Dual processor motherborad. What do you guys...

My singers voice is so strong, powerful and in tune when ever we play live, but when it comes to recording in the studio, problems arrise. I turn the volume and bass down in his headphones, we did use a little reverb but now the signal is dry to his headphones.....not sure what else to do. Are...

    Subtractive EQ.....masking problems?

Most of my songs have two guitars that are overdriven. Usually panned to a certain degree to each speaker. I have tried to use a little subtractive EQ'ing to give the guitars a little more clarity and space. I applied a boost/cut at around the 5 and 7k mark on both guitars....it now sounds...

    Curiosity killed the track...

Hey all Within my songs, I have recorded overdriven guitars using either two or three mics to capture the sound. If it's one guitar I would pan and blend accordingly. If It's two guitars (two seperate parts) playing, I usually blend the tracks from each part and then pan one to the left and...
