I threw an idea on to a local board about getting a real-heavy Stoner-rock band .. Weirdly, a couple of friends did show interest, And I think I'd have to introduce a couple of tunes to get things along..

Did this, is it stoner??.. Kinda late Zztop when I added guits to me..

solos are just to take the tune along, we haven't decided on the final casting yet.. drums are just whipped up..

I think it sounds pretty good...I really the Doom/ Stoner stuff. This is nice and heavy. I think it works pretty well.

It's pretty rumbly right now, but with a bit of cleaning up, this will kick ass.

Yeah idk but the guitars have a lot of low end and rumble to it. I kinda dont like. Its a cool tune and all but I personally like a nice clean guitar sound. And this isnt my idea of stoner my idea of stoner is more Jimi Hendrix.

Thank ye all!!.. :)

Yeah, hellishly rumbly low end, no doubt the distorted bassline causes that.. I thought I cut the bottom off the guits, but not harshly enough it seems.

But if tha main point of the sabbath/stoner/doom-rock gets through, that's enough until we get banded and record something,,, need a few more songs.

I like the bottom heavy stuff if its not overdone. great song..

apart from the solo's the sound is terrible

but its a good song with potential and some nice riffin

I like the rumble although my ears hurt a little bit. The drum sound is kind of thin in comparrison but maybe that's what you're after. It's a very otherworldly sound like being stoned on some very scary weed. Cool.

Thanks for replies!

Seems best I'll loose the overdriven bass sound. :D

..and thanks new2mix for the links, nice bands!.. Though I'm aiming a tad heavier Doom. :D

Someone posted that here earlier, and the first song there is what got me excited of this!

...but I haven't got a baritone guitar yet, so it's hard playing that low.-- Liked Treasurecats "Captain Smirk" too...

...I think I'm gonna be re-listening a couple of old Black Sabbath-albums, and work from there.

There are some that are heavier than that from those guys. They just have two of them listed for karma to burn.

i can of like the fuzz bass but the low end is out of control. it sure as hell growls though doesn't it? :D

Yeah!!!.. I sure liked the growl. :D

Drums are beatcraft, until we get banded I don't have drums at home.

Here's a second tune, Because of ye critics I made it with a clean bass!!

I've got a willing drummer, two vocalists, both capable of these slow riffs with a bass... I could do guitar... but as my solos show, I'd rather bass..Will see how this goes, We're all quite busy... :(

If you want total doom, just listen to Sunn or Catacombs. Turn it up loud and create a wall of doom. Put it on 8 speakers, surround yourself with them, and create a fortress of doom!

Fortress of Doom

...there MUST be a band by that allready somewhere...

The GROWL is back!!... in a doomier piece:

...a preliminary mix now, I'll update to a tidier this evening. ..That bass-sound just renders it self so much better to making these songs..

Yep, this is about Doom, not High-Fidelity.

This song is pretty much how you expect a stoner/doom song to sound like.
Low-Fi, dirty, fuzzy and super heavy low tuned guitars.

For those guys criticizing it, it is understandable that you think it sounds bad, if you don't know the stoner rock/doom metal genre.

Check out stuff by Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Earthride, Las Cruces among others, so you can have some understanding of the Genre.....

I dig the song, it would of course be much better with real drums. Nice and dirty sounding.

Hey Jouni, it was me that posted the Earthride link in another thread.
Glad to find someone else here, who likes that kind of stuff!

Yeah, Las Cruces has been a long time favorite too!..

..composed, recorded and mixed two songs in a day. :D

...It's hard to get your heavyMetal or Cover-party-musician friends into a band like that though!

...preliminary replaced with some other kind of a mix... :o

+1. I remember the first time I heard Fu Manchu's In Search Of...it was really fuzzy and heavy. About 20 min in, I was like "OK, enough, I get it!" Today, that just sounds like fuzzy rock, and sounds more rock than doom. It's a bit of an acquired taste. After that, the first time I heard Sleep's Jerusalem (nka Dopesmoker) was another similar experience, it's just the next step along the scale of heavy fuzzy rock.

Also check out Spirit Caravan if you have not heard them, Wino does some good stuff and usually has different guitar sounds on either speaker.

Reading this thread makes me want to post some stuff of my band! I'll set up a soundclick or other kind of account soon, but for now, here's the myspace page: www.myspace.com/westcoastdoom
