I spilt a small amount of beer on the dragonII's in my PRS!!

Anyway, next time I played it I noticed that there seems to be some subtle ugly overtones in my sound, as well as a very ugly fizziness ringing out over everything.

At the moment, it is in the shop to get checked out, but it will be a while till it has been looked at. The Guy at the shop didnt seem to think that, on the spot, he could hear anything wrong with it. However, I know it dosent seem the same as it did before.

So in the meantime while I dont have it, I am wondering the following:

1. Have you spilt liquid on pick ups before, and if so what was the consequence?

2. Could this be affecting the ugliness I now hear in my tone?

3. What sort of components besides the actual pups are in the guitar anyway and how could liquid affect them?

Basically, I am trying to get a idea if this is the problem or not as it will be a while to I get confirmation either way. It was a small amount of beer, but it cant be good for it. Thanx for any opinions or similar experiences. :0)

The fizziness is from the beer being carbonated. :D

Are the pick-ups active? They are really just wire. The only thing I can think of is the liquid soaking into the pick-up and making anything absorbent expand and maybe cracking the shellac on the wire. That could cause a short or maybe some weird capacitance noise, which could also be the case if the beer hasn't completely dried up.........If it got into the control cavity maybe it got into the volume or tone pots, which could be a bit messy. Open up the back and see if any beer got in there. If so, get some deoxit and clean the pots.

p.s. I wouldn't use a hair dryer on the pick-ups to speed the drying process ;) .

Hey man, your gtr. pick-ups just do not like beer, perhaps whisky or wine is the way to go :D , of course you could try to give them some milk just to sober up a bit  or perhaps this could make matters even worse :(

Any liquid in your pick-up can cause some harm, but the shop may be able to get it right. Hope you have another axe to keep yourself going in the meantime, otherwise it is a "Stringless few weeks"

Good luck

Eddie :)
