Haha, thanks for the replies, guys. I agree with the LDC having a brighter high end, was just curious about using one with screaming. You all are making me curious about the SM7b. What are some other favorite applications for that mic? And at grimtraveller.

High hats, kick, snare (if you can deal with it's size), bass amps.

And of course what they were designed for: radio talk shows. They don't have the proximity effect that the sm57 has and the rear rejection is really good.
