I got Reason too, so you won't hear complaints from me. But let us hear some of those bangers you got homie! Shit, you're talking comparison worldwide? Hit me off! Your shit must be butter! Yup - Yup

Supposedly there's a refill that takes the Triton board and spreads it out across the refill. Also there's one for the Fantom. I have demos for both and the sounds are nice. There's rumor of a Triton Extreme refill too. Man that just reinforces my idea to get those racks and add those into my arsenal. I'd be unstoppable.

Reason And How You Use It.

For us, Reason 3.0 is the hottest software right now. Now, don't get me wrong, you have to know how to use it or you can make some weak beats. The whole thing is knowing how to use your tools. You can even make hot beats on Fruity Loops! If you know how to use a program to it's max, you got it.

It's like a studio having $millons$ in gear, but if no one knows how to use it, that gear is useless!

Perfect your craft...

Reason is all you need.........................................once you buy like 10 sample cds! LOL But i still love it though. Sometimes I just show it off to people -- they get blown away by the cables... It really pays to have a full-size controller though, so you can just play naturally (a 1-take performance) without having to shift octaves. I think software in general gets hated on. Not because of its own capabilities (or lack thereof), but because its so affordable. Now everyone and they mama can buy a soft synth and call themselves "producers." And its true a lot of these people are wack, just listen to soundclick. (but i wont speak on that... ) Hardware doesnt guarantee success, and neither does software. If you "got it" you "got it," and you'll show it no matter what format you use. I just say let the finished product speak for itself... All these haters prolly couldnt even tell the difference between a hardware and software version of the same beat! When someone hates on my setup, i tell 'em when they can make something better maybe I'll listen.

Yeah I agree...you either got it or you don't, but you know most of the beats I hear on soundclick are remixes, actual mainstream songs, pretty good, or using sampled loops and acting like it was done from scratch.

Hey Man Im feelin what you saying im listenin to teh hip hop section pretty good, to tell you the truth I didnt expect reason to be this powerful but its good. I neva doubted this program but I neva excpet it to be this damn good. Propz on the thread man

OK...let me clarify. When I was referring to soundclick beats, im talkin about the ones that are supposed to be all original. Whats your definition of pretty good??? Now I wouldnt call most of them GARBAGE, but I will say that only a small fraction of them are good enough "as is" to be on a mainstream release. Thats just my opinion, based on what Ive heard there, which is nowhere close to everything. But if the overall quality of the music on the site is represented by the top 100, then I stick to my statement... However, I DO know the hottest music has a habit of not being the most popular, so maybe I just havent gotten to the right beats yet. I would love to be proven wrong.

The good ones you have to really search for. They're more than likely not in top 100, sometimes there can be some good ones in there though...just not too often.

Well...

No matter what anybody says, i'll put my money on reason all day long. The refills in reason are second to only VST's in comparison, plus did we all forget to mention you can actually save all those wild and outrageous sounds you create in reason. Thats right to all you beginning just blaze and kanye west's out there! You can actually create your own sounds and save them, hell redifine the music you listen to and do something outside the box.

But reason really is all a "producer/beat maker" might need to pull off a complete pre-production work.

P.S.- Note i said "producer/beatmaker", even though it apply's to both, people should recognize the difference!, i notice that alot around here with these youngin's ;)

True. A lot of people need to know the difference. Just because you make beats doesn't give you that title.

All these people and only one that has the guts to say that they have a problem with reason..I guess I managed to flip a few scripts and turn some opinions hehe Either that or the haters doesn't have what it takes to stand up....hehe (I did that just to provoce/provoke some of you)

Producer/Beatmaker...It's like saying that you're a mechanic and a florist at the same time. There are some similarites to them both, but they're far from the same. As long as we're on the subject...recording artist...yet another one that gets confused with producer. To me atleast it's not the same. I think the reason why people "think" they are producers is because nowadays we can do everything ourself. Actually...we have to be atleast one of the above to make it in the music industry. Perhaps not Producer/beatmaker/recording artist straight outa school, but you have to have some skills in either of the categories. If you're good though...you're skilled in all of the categories. I started off as a beatmaker...then I became a recording artist...then I became a producer. I actually produce shit for others so I feel I'm entitled to call my self that.

But when it all comes down to it just call me Nito....because that is synonymous with beatmaker, recordings artist, producer and composer...oh yeah...and I'm hot hehe

Anyone played around with the Combinator in R3? That unit is off the hook when it comes to layering shit, and not to mention the fact that you can recall it back with the click of a button (damn...I sound like a propellerhead employee don't I?)

-Nito

PS...Yeah yeah Being able to make beats doesn't make me a composer...I know...but compose as well....not as well as Zimmer though

Nito likes red chiclets LOL...he likes to stir up shit too.

heh

Hehe I'm not sure what ya mean about red chiclets though...as in redheads? If so you're right hehe Doesn't hurt to stir shit up either. I was really hoping for some of the Reason haters to post some valid opinions as to why they actually hate on the programe...I'm just saying that I suspect it's not the programe that's lacking here...

I got a radium 61 made by m-audio, its beautiful!

Its a 61 key keyboard plus has octave buttons so u can go up or down 3 whole octaves from watever you are playing!

but the real reason i brought it was for the knobs and sliders :)
they come in handy too, especially wen your mixing in a hurry!

Hell yeah radiums are nice we got those at Norfolk st hooked up to some macs. Those things are nice. I have learned a little bit of reason in school as well as Logic which has a little reason/fruity program that comes built in it. I'm so use to using acid I have just not switched over. When I eventually go full blown pro with engineering I'll eventually have to learn more of it. It's a great program the best on the market for what it does IMO.

Oh yeah go into any big time pro studio that uses pro tools and guess what you will find. Reason comes with Pro tools now.

Source? I'm calling bullshit on that statement, rewire is a VST thing and AFAIK, thats it for connecting to other systems other than clock slaving

Anyway, I know tons of record producers (not to mention about 90% of british DnB producers) who use reason almost across the board and it is not "toy" any less than cubase, logic, or protools. Presets aside, once you getting programing, it is one of the best synth engines I have played around with (who else makes a graintable synth?)

Once again, I will plug the Novation remotes for midi control. I have used the Maudio and Korg controllers and they are seriously not even close to the level of ease and flexibilty of the Remotes. It took me less than an hour to program 4 scenes for my korg EX-8000 (late 80s dual DCO analog/digital hybrid synth) which was ALL sysex commands (30 controls per scene)

Yeah as Reason gets bigger, I'm starting to see more Reason Adapted discs in different bundles as well. It's good to get a feel for Reason and that's about it.

I went to school at U mich in ann arbor, but that was 10 years ago. But you are right there is now a rewire for PT. I have never used the Reason Adapted, so I cant really say what they have removed or how it compare to the full one
