Would love to participate, but can't find the original track archive ... can anyone advise?

Cheers.

Jeremy, yo shit is pimpin, mang. lol. Two more nitpicks and youve got a killer mix. Bring the threshold down a little on the vox so it is a bit more sensitive and doesnt cut off the transients, and bring the level of the main vocals up maybe 2 or 3 db. Other than that, everything sounds damn good to me. Nice work dude.

First of all, lots of respect to xfinsterx for this neat song! :)
The production is just great, it really was a pleasure to work with the material, since it was recorded that properly.

I just uploaded my mix of the song on NL5's server:

feel free to give me any kind of feedback, I'd really appreciate it! :)

ok, now for my own feedback on the already entered mixes, please excuse my english, i'm not a native speaker...

@geet73:
that's a very solid mix you made there! I really like the filter you put on the chorus vocals. also, the subtle small verb on the vocals really fits. imo, i think the drums are a little too quiet, but they also are in the reference track by xfinsterx, that's just a matter of taste I guess. the overall track could also need some more low boost.

@CGibson:
a very own mix, indeed! :) the reverbs are really cool and the drum sound reminds me of old metal drum sounds, the toms sound great. the whole mix is very punchy and hits you right the face. it lacks a bit of mid freq sounds, but I guess that's what adds the punchy effect.

@ds21:
nice reverb sounds here as well! the lead synth is a little too loud imo during the verses. the whole mix has some sort of room verb effect that I really like.
the vocals in the chorus really fit well. the overall track sounds a littlebit filtered in the highend though.

@thajeremy:
nice small reverb again. I guess I like these reverbs so much 'cause I really don't dare to use them. :) the cymbals are too loud and too high-freq'd for my taste. it's interesting that use made the harmony vox louder, sounds really cool, and the doubling effect of the vocals is great too... the snare sound just kicks ass, really punchy. maybe the bass is a bit too quiet.

@xstatic:
a great mix. the cymbals are a bit too highend-heavy for my taste. anything else sounds just great.

@Pro Tools User:
the drum sound has an awesome room effect. maybe the snare is a littlebit too far on the left, but if it was intended, I really like it. the toms sound a little too loud in the whole drum context. the lead synth is a little too loud too for my taste. the overall track could need some more punch in the lowends, other than that this mix sound almost "albiniresque" to me, which I really like.

@producerkid:
this mix sounds just great! the harmony vox have been mixed very cool, the snare sound is really crisp, I really like it. the toms sound just great. as you wrote the whole mix is a bit bass heavy. if this is corrected it's just an awesome mix.

Hey Sine, thanks for the feedback, I really didn't have a good idea of what it really sounds like because it's only a headphone mix right now, I'm reworking my monitoring system, I'm at work so I haven't listened to yours uet but I will later today.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words, sine. Headphones here, too. Damni sucks not being able to turn up the speaks at 3 am. Im a nocturnal mix freak. lol. I will deal with the low end pretty soon and do some final tweaking because the more I listen to it I think the mix itself is fine. Everything im hearing from evryone else is sounding real good. I can see where these contests have been helping people in the long run. Everyone gets better and better every contest.

I've been doing it on headphones too.

I dont have any monitors yet, still using medium-high end pc speakers...

Plus, they're giving me a whack image, with the right speaker waaay more full and loud than the left, but I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the cable from the sound card to the speakers.

I'm probably just gonna do this one with phones.... who knows, maybe I'll give it a mix on the pc speakers... I know them pretty well, but the room here (apartment near school) is fairly bad, and sounds a lot different than the place I play in at home.

I'll be content just making a submission.... I've downloaded and mixed, but not finished and entered, all of the recent PMC's... haven't submitted since #4 I think.

That would be great Bent cuz I still can access NL's server (matter of fact I havnt been abe to acces it since PMC 5)

Me either.

Man... I finally got the damn DL... but one of the tracks wouldn't unzip...
The Outro String Stuff said it was corrupt... Dammit.

How many total tracks are there anyway? 22?

Anyone have a copy of the Outro String Stuff.wav I could snag??
Prefereably zipped or RARed

I'm on Dial-Up so as small as I can get it... Even if it's clipped down...
As long as I know the start point of the clip...

This is as small as it gets. Poor quality but it should work out ok for this small of a part. dunno?

hope it helps!

Hehe... My chances aren't all that good to "win" as I mix oddly.
In fact lately I've become more of an "ambient" artist with my music...
So I try to play to that... May or may not go over well with this...
