Anyone else hearing a fuzzy sort of almost like a bad connection or a bad cable sort of sound at 42 to 44 seconds into the mix?

Ummm...yeah...about that...
When i track a tune for these contests, i may let little things get over looked to keep things on schedule....sorry if its buggin.

Still no entries....

Does any one have a blank copy of the the judging sheet?

No problem...I found it in the Bass track...took it out quite easily with a little high end eq.

I'm at work so I'm only listening though little cheap PC speakers, so the only thing I can really comment on are that the drums need work, somethings gone wrong with the gating

Thanks ds21 for commenting and taking the time to listen. :) I'm sorta wondering whats the purpose of submitting a rough mix?? Hardly no one comments, and I'm sure people are dl'ing them and using them as a comparison to their own mix they are working on. Im in this thing to learn where my mistakes are not too win any contest. I cant learn if no one comments on the mixes kinda pointless.

Just wish more people would comment on the rough mix's that Producerkid, Xstatic, and myself submitted. Again if they are just being dl'ed and used for others to compare their mix to ours then its pointless for use to even submit it. (without a reply or any feedback its pointless)

If this doesnt stir up any comments I suggest we just do away with submitting rough mixes and just keep it as a CONTEST so everyone can submit at the last minute. I'm willing to bet this is the way it would go down, the snipes out there scared to send in thier mix early because they are waiting for something to compare theirs too. Then you have a few that are so into winning and treat their mix like its a top secret project.

If you look at the first few contest people were help each other out, now it seems its just a contest, no learning or helping others out.

Well I'm done rambling on to watch the Super Bowl

Peace
Eddie

Man, that was alot of whining there.
No need to fret pt user. These public mixes..... Its just a way to pass some time, learn, turn my voice into a martian with some wierd effect, whatever.......

Just because Tom, Dick, and Harry dont review your mix dosent mean these contests are "bad" in some way.

Not that you said they were, but you DO sound mighty desolate about something offered for free , and for fun.

Hey Finster, Whining?? whatever man. Maybe I have the wrong ideal of what these contest are about. I think the contest are great, but they are only as good as the feedback givin. PERIOD. If its just a case of dl'ing and mixing and no one comments then what have you learned. So in the end you may have a great score or lower score but did you really learn something from it other then damn I fucked up somewhere on lowend or there was not enough midrange?? I wasnt knocking the contest at all but more along the lines of getting more feedback. Again if thats whining so be it.

This is a forum a collaberative group of opinions not just one, so no it was not directed at you.
Peace

Hey man, lets not have any hijacking going on here. lol. Let's just take our lumps, have fun and mix away. It is for fun, and its free. Back to working on a project of my own...lata.

Ah the joy of getting screamed on. I miss it. Maybe I should return for PMC 9 Huh fin?? Got plenty more tracks to burn. LOL

And man this rhino Hyde I got is getting soft. LOL

This is just a rough mix...I am now entering the 2nd week of what has been the worst head cold I have ever had so I expect there to be some major problems in the low end since I am having problems hearing the bass. anyway....rip it up....

yo, jeremy that was a fucking solid mix if you ask me dude. the low end sounded fine. only a few things i have to nitpick about

the bass needs to be tamed in the high end a bit because of the noise, and i would gate the vocals for the same reason. the vocals also could use a touch of de-essing or some focused negating eq around 4-5.5k. Maybe back off the compression a tad. Other than that this mix sounds really good. I especially like the lo-fi repeating vocals on the verses. Good work. Keep at it and I think you;ve got something. Hope you get to feeling better, too dude.

hello everyone,

this is my first post and I just wanted to let you know that these public mixing contests are something that I was looking for ages!! :)
i'll give it a try for PMC8, too!

Daniel

Ok, Here's a very quick preliminary mix I've only worked on about 1/4 of the tracks the rest I just pushed up the faders, I know it sound pretty dull right now:

My first mix is still up there if anyone wants to give it a listen:)

I am especially interested in what xfinsterx thinks. It's always helpfull for me to try and mix keepng what the artists vision is as well as mine.

I'll try to get mine up tonight.

Fin, is this you singing? If it is.. I dig your voice.

thanks man...maybe i need to start mixing with my ears stopped up all the time...lol...earplugs maybe...

anyway...i took your advice and gated the vocals..i hope not too much. I had actually EQ'd the highs a bit to take care of the 'essing' before i read your comments. Bass was also adjusted a bit...ill just have to take your word for it on that because like i said before...im still having a little trouble hearing the low end due to this sinus infection that i am finally starting to get over...

thanks for the comments....hope to get more...

here is the first one i posted...

and this is after the adjustments...
