Yea. Here's mine. Hopefully I did alright. I haven't been able to hear any high frequencies out of my left ear for the past few days. :-/

My final should be up on the ftp server (doug_h_mc7.mp3). Anyone interested can check it out here

->mc7

I'd like to volunteer to judge the next one. I'm not remotely qualified, and I know my mixes aren't the best, but I think it'd be fun.

FWIW I've got half decent monitors even though I'm not driving them with anything special in the sound card department right now.

The only thing is, I can't be the only judge. Anyhow, if we don't already have a full compliment of judges, I'll volunteer.

The FTP should be used for final mixes ONLY!!! I would even go as far to say that if you put your mp3 on the ftp..you shouldnt be posting it for everyone to click on and chew B/W.

If its not your final mix...host it on your own site for people to critique it.
There are many sites out there that will host mp3's for you...and usually..if your a broadband subscriber....your ISP gives you a 10-25 mb webspace for you to use at your disposal. :-)

Hope this helps

You guys can link your songs from the FTP on here. I have plenty of bandwidth available. I just didn't want non contest stuff uploaded onto the server.

Like Markaholic said, try and get your final entry up if you can, if not, email them to him or I.

:D

:D

It worked nicely, great service! Thanks.

It's uploaded as a final named PMC07-01-Steal.mp3 here.

Pitty I don't have much time to work on it further.. I really want my own project to get some attention again too .

So as far as the rules go.... can I compress? EQ? etc.....

I gather you just mean no re-tracking or composing of parts?

Waht I understand from it is that you can do whatever you think is required as long as the original waves are the base of what you do. The drumagogg issue above means that the drum-tracks are replaced by samples, and that doesn't fit the contest. Compressing, eq-ing, reverd ect are all alowed...

been listening to the mixes, all of them seem pretty good to me. Heard some guitars that sounded a bit thin, maybe one with vocals a tad loud. Most of the drum tracks turned out pretty good.

daunt, omfg how did you get the drums to sound like that :O, you pulled the boom off of the bass without morphing it into a different instrument as well, nice. Actually your whole mix just rips.

Yah no drumagoging it. I just did that for the fun of it. Im going to try another mix of the orginal as soon as i can. If i have time anyway.

Danny

I only had about 45 minutes to spend on this song, so here's my version:)

I am really used to very drum oriented mixes..... beefy kick, snappy snare, chunky toms etc... This was quite the challenge. I am betting I have the kick and maybe the vocals a little too hot. Oh well:D

Thanks! Biggest challenge was the snare drum. I added some distortion to it (QuadraFuzz). The drums were in one group that was sent through nice sounding room reverb (SIR Convolution, Lexicon PCM91 Rooms). I still don't like the drum sound. Bass tracks were compressed individually and sent to a group and processed with Magneto and boosted 4 db at 1255 hz.

I was really surprised by your drum sound. My mix sounds like poopy. Eh.

My final mix is up for your amusement.

much to like about this mix too. Cymbals really stand out, not many mixes pulled these out of the mix that well. I think the guitar effect robbed the tune of some power, but it sounds cool.

I made another out of boredom. Is there an award for most unique?

Talk about a raw sounding mix... ;)

It should be up in a couple minutes.

Well its good to see the site back up!

In light of the 2-3 day downtime the forum had...ive revamped the deadlines !

They will now be:

1/10/05 - Last Day for Downloads
1/17/05 - Last Day For Entries
1/27/05 - Winner will be announced

Hope this works for all !

Also forum members " Tukkis " and " Carter " has offered to judge so we only need 1judge !...anyone?
ahhh, i'm gonna tweak my mix a bit then, sorry for the bandwidth NL5, I thought it was do or die

I've got to compress the bass a bit more and boost it at 12k lol, just kidding :)

I had no idea the deadline was extended. Heh. I just made the second one for fun. I think I'm going to enter that instead.. my other mix isn't too good anyway.
