Pmc #8

Itl be a fun mix trust me.

Kind of a rock/funk/crazed-metal thing....

Ill post it on my server tommorow.

-finster.

hmm...dont have any judges yet.....
Any body wanna try thier hand at judging?
Also, to NL5, will you host PMC8 for me bro?

Hit me back at chris@geomana.com

Thanks.

Cool Doug!

Hey Doug i gotta question...
Do you remember when Blue Bear made that Graph chart to do the Judging?
Lets do up one of those again....but thistime you can customize it more to the specs you might see important in a mix.

Are you game for that?
\
Also, anyone else wanna Judge?

Doin't quite remember, but we can do something like that. I don't have excel though :(. I can format it anyhow it needs to be in HTML more or less and send in a screen shot.

I don't know how I would change the criteria. I'm willing to go with what the good folks that know more about this stuff have laid down already :)
If anyone else wants to mix it up I'm game though.

Ok then.

Ill figure the whole excel thing out.

I got swamped today at work, so ill be posting PMC8 on either tommorow or monday at THE LATEST., i promise.

Finster.

I think a catagory for "creativity" would be nice. Mainly for those who were disqualified in the past...If a so called 'edit' is done...take away points in the proper catagory but if it was a very creative edit...give'm points there...

I guess it would work out like extra credit...:)

I believe that creativity is far TOO SUBJECTIVE to be able to rate it on 10.

Ok

Ok im bouncing the files now it should be up by 12am/pst or so.
Goddamn this bouncing shit takes for ever man. lol.

Well, if someone dosent step up to do the setups for how itll be judged i suppose ill set it up. No biggie... ill make it simple and comprehensive.

Allthough, i still only have one judge....anyone else wanna play judge with Doug?

Get back at me.

I agree on a slightly seperate note. I think it should be about the mixing to keep things straight forward and the playing field level.

If parts are changed, or they are not changed, good sound is good sound. In some cases, sections NEED to be muted, some drums need to be replaced, some vocals NEED to be tuned, etc. If the artist chooses horrible kick drum sounds over "corrected" ones, well, that says it all . Good sound is the goal -IMO. It doesn't take much for clients to see that either.

We need one of these mix projects to be an open playing field. Then we'll see who the creative mixers are.

:)

I taught these mixing contest were about who can get the best sound out of specific tracks, not modified. I mean, if we all start modifying etc etc etc, it's a lot harder for the juges to be objective towards the mixes.

I totally agree with the fact that originality and sometimes, changing stuff MUST be done in a mix, but I think it doesn't have it's place in the mixing contest.

I know many of you totally disagree with my vision, but I stand for it, just for the fact that without changing any major thing in the song, it's easier to see who is the best at mixing and making every instrument fix perfectly in the mix.

Sorry for my English guys, I am from Canada (French Canadian) and it's been about a year I didn't have English classes!

I look at these mixing constest this way: Who ever is putting up the tracks is the producer. The tracks have been selected, now mix them. I do agree tho' that muting certain tracks is part of the mixing unless the producer says no.

Well it apears that we have 2 different visions of these contest... I guess that we could try changing parts, adding parts, muting stuff etc. Maybe in PMC#9?
