So stone is cool. Just gotta get the rest on board. Hmmm. So I guess i should try 44.1, 16. The originals were 48/24 and I downgraded to 16. so I guess I'll take the final plunge.

I'll try one file and if it is successful all around then I will convert all. BRB

as for the guys having problems, could it be the downloads are being corrupted because of the high demand to your slow server?, i have downloaded small files (2-3mb) from your server without problems, i'll try a biger file to see if the slow conection corrupts the wave file.

BTW. i don't have my own server to host the files but i could ask a friend in california if he could mirror the files if you want.

I agree also, now convert to an MP3 and your mix sounds like ASS, but........I just can't help myself. Maybe there's a 12 step program for limiter abuse. Anyway, if the judges compensate for volume, which I believe they all did, the advantage should go to the more dynamic mix.
Compensating for level is crucial......... yes - I set each mix for the same SPL when listening. Would be a pretty rookie move if I hadn't done that, btw! :p

Ok. here is a test. I created a folder called TESTFOLDER in that direcotry.

the AIFF is 44.1/16 and the WAV is 44.1/16 let me know what works (and I will reconvert files accordingly)

No dice with the unzipped file. It crashes Audition and won't load into Sonar.

Still crashes audition and doesn't load in sonar (the non zip)

strange... but it plays in winamp perfectly

same here....

I doubt the speed is the issue. I Just downloaded 1.7GB worht of data at an avg speed on 9KB/Sec (whew that was slow) and all went well. I believe it is the file format alongside the program. I had a guy not to far from here with PC pro-Tools who could not open AIFF files. (dunno why)

I managed to get a file zips downloaded this morning. They unzipped to 48kHz wav files. So far they work in Sound Forge, Samplitude, WinAmp, and Windows Media player. I haven't tried them on my main system which is running Cubase VST5. It's on another machine, but I would expect it to work there.

I am not seeing a problem with the files.

Hey Bryan - The Unzipped wave file still crashes Adobe and won't open in Cubase. :(

Vestast, check the new 44.1/16bit files in the TestFolder. If there is still an issue I am totally lost.

Downloading both files,
and to answer a previous question, the downloads aren't currupted because the multiple files I downloaded play perfectly in winamp, as I stated before.

My guess is that these waves are "special" waves, generated by mac software, so they are only decriptable by mac, just like broadcast waves need special treatment (... french is my first language!!! :P)

the download is going to take 30 minutes (oh god!) I have to get up very early tomorrow morning, so I might not be able to check it tonight, but let's say that there's about 70% chances I can reply tonight, orelse, I will leave it to you guys for the rest of the night :P

take care

I don't think we're experiencing a Mac vs. Windows situation here. I am on Windows, and have not noticed any problems. Windows 98se, no less.

To the best of my knowledge, Broadcast Wavs completely compatible as Wav files, they just have more metadata. Could be wrong though.

your running PT, right fin? i'm downloading them (slowly) and tested one through Windows Media Player. It didn't work....but then it opened up in iTunes (microsoft vs. apple??) and played fine. weird

--okay, one of the files opened up in PT 6.4 fine (windows)

Downloading now.

Very weird that it works for xfin but not for others.

We'll figure it out.

Hey Ben, you can export it from itunes (by using the convert option) to a waves file that should be compatible with your software. I had to do that with a corrupted waves file based on how the conversion works.

seems to be working through PT fine for now, though. I'll let you know if I have issues when I download the rest...then maybe i'll try that way. thanks giles
