He is also a well known producer.

Probably most noted for producing the breakthrough album for the Smashing Pumpkins (Saimese Dream).

Yup, that's Butch Vig's studio. It's a great place, lots of history. Smart Studios and Raw-Tracks.com are not affiliated in any way, other than I pay them money and they let me record there. I'm just a client.

They have a great Trident A-Range console that I used to work on when I worked at Quad Studios in Nashville. Now I get to work on it in Madison, WI!

I just sent you the download link. There's a few left for anyone else who wants in.

Hey Raw, do you live in Madison?

Ok, I'll explain the problem here. I entered this contest, mixed me up the song, and now the judges have wet themselves laughing, and can't quit to notify you all of a winner. I apologize for this, but hey, I was, and still am, drunk.....

I know the contest is over, but is there anyway the original poster can put up the link to the tracks again? I like the song and would love to try and make my own mix of it.

And the winner is . . .

OK I'm back in town. In the meantime I've probably been in y'alls' towns. KY, St. L, MN, IL . . . earlier today I was within a couple of miles of Massive Master :) I thought about walking the streets shouting "Massive Master, where are you?" but I imagine the local cops wouldn't have thought too much of that  That was also close enough to farview to drop by and discuss results in person, but sadly time did not allow :(

Anyway, yes I have the two-judge results tallied, are you ready for those, or are there still a few souls who hold out hope of xfinsterx judging

OK, here they are:

Runner-up is:

DonF

Second place (winner of tubes):

Sonixx

and now . . .

the envelope please . . .

First place (winner of mic):

ds21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ds21, please PM your address to xfinsterx for your mic, and Sonixx PM me :)

I also scored xfinsterx's reference mix, which would have been good enough on my card for second place :) ds21 really turned in a kickass mix.

Enjoy #12, folks, I'm moving in two weeks and will not have a functional studio for months :(

Wow... I'm HIGHER than I expected... no wait... that doesn't sound right... ;)

This was a blast and I learned so much from it just by hearing what other people did with the mix. Can't wait for 12 and thanks to all involved. As long as I keep learning...

Well, I am not at the top yet, but I am beginning to see a trend. Every time I get into one of these PMC's, I am higher than the previous one. It must be working.

Thanks, guys

PS. I tried to listen to DS21's mix, but the link at post #326 doesn't seem to be working. Are all entries up somewhere else?

Ah, nice to have the results finally :)

Graz for DS21 (put your mix up, we are all eager to hear it I believe).

I must say that these results surprised me completely. I mean I would have scored totally different top5 :)

One other thing that I would love to know is how much experience each of the contestants has. I mean, if I am ranking somewhere in the middle of the group, I have no idea whether I rank in the middle among mostly experienced experts or in the middle of mostly other rookies whom have never done professional level work.

Could we maybe break the next PMC into two groups, (experience levels)? It would give the Newbs considerably more hope and less of that "what the hell, I'm not going to win anyway" feeling.

Just a thought.

Thanks,
RawDepth

PS. Congratulations to you, DS21.

I'm number 8, I'm number 8.... I'm number 8, I'm number 8....I'm number 8, I'm number 8....I'm number 8, I'm number 8.... :D :D

Seriously, I'd like to hear the top 3 entries, so I kow what it SHOULD sound like... I guess I'll have to start digging...

And regarding skill level... this is the first song I mixed completely.... I messed w/ 2 of the other PMS's, but never really "finished" them.

Also, I am currently mixing one of the "Raw-Tracks" songs... I bought 2 ($5 a piece), and am working on "Jamie"... They are really good to work w/ also, even if they don't get "Judged".
(They DO have a forum you can submit mixes to, and other guys will comment...)
