I decided to order a pair of GIK acoustics 244 bass traps, I can't wait to hear how it will change the room sound, and if I like it then I'll be ordering more from them. Very reasonably priced as well! so I'll post some photos when then arrive in the studio, and let you know what I think.

anyone here had experience with them? I'm pretty excited about getting them

source please

can you please post the source, cost, and specs? Thanks

$140 for 2? I guess if you've got the money .... or don't have the tools/ability to make your own .... I made 6 traps for $250 - extra $50 for shipping the insulation to me as I couldn't find it locally.

I bought a couple traps from GIK. Most excellent service and well built.
I'd buy from em again.
:thumbs up:

Oh yeah, they do look good, but expensive.

ya know?
When I built my superchunks, the freight alone was pretty damned hefty. I don't remember exactly what it was now but it was along the lines of $100.
So for me anyway, DIY was a little cheaper but now waay cheaper.

Besides, I like Glen and the crew. :)

I've been down the DIY route and for me it's been a waste of money, I will see how they compare to my own, but I honestly can't see my own being as effective.

I've got them today, already a noticable difference in the bass with just 2! not even positioned properly yet or fixed to the wall with hooks, I'll post some photos soon

Nobody ever understands until they build or buy some... You are likely only 1/8 of the way there with 2. Bass traps are not fables man. It is science. :)

Congrats to you for listening. :D

I've been looking at those 244 traps too.....was interested in the "Range Limiter" option, as I don't really want broadband trapping, just looking to beef up my low-end trapping.

I can do DIY...but that never comes out like factory made, and there's a little more to it than just a sheet of fiberglass, in a frame with cloth if you want more specific control.
I guess if I needed a dozen basix broadband traps, it would be cheaper to go DIY...but for 2-4 specifc kinds of traps that will also look great (I dig the Guilford cloth, as it's simialr to what I have on my existing treatment)....I would just buy them made.

I've been looking at the GIK 244s too. I've also been looking at the more expensive tri-traps. Any thoughts on those?

agree man, but it's a start...I've been looking into getting a full on room kit! and eventually one day maybe even the neumann KH810 subwoofer which might even kill me, there would that much bass

Nothing like sweet death by low end! :D

I can't comment on the tri-traps, but they look like the best for corners, minimal space, they have a better performance on paper so probably a step up, I'm actually thinking of getting a pair of them next but not for at least a few weeks yet

I've also been wondering: Is there any reason 244s (without the range limiter) wouldn't be preferable to 2" to treat first reflection points? Other than the price, is there anything that's "better" about 2" for that?

Cool, awesome if you'd let me know what you think of them if you pick them up before I do.
