do you have any profiles on like soundclick or pure volume??
Yeah, I have a Soundclick account. If I don't hear from NL5 soon, I guess I'll post them there.

Wait, nevermind. Dogman's gonna hook me up.

i dont mean to get off topic or hijack the thread, but id like to know how you guys are collaborating online like this. i understand that you probably import the raw guitar track or whatever into your respective systems, but how are yall playing along with it? do you figure out its tempo and create a click track to go along with it, or are you just going by ear? also, for example, if person A and person B each send their own pieces to person C, how does person C blend them all together and keep it in time?

Well while I was busy suckin' up my take, lbanks posted his, so I ain't in this one, but . . .

If you get a steady track, no, you don't need a click. Lawler has good timing ;) After that, it's just a matter of lining up the incoming tracks. It doesn't matter if you get it sample accurate, since the parts are totally different.

If you are fastidious, record a click a measure before the track starts, and ask everybody working on it to include that in their track, so it's easy for you to line up. It also isn't a horrible idea to include a test tone (A=440) in the header.

mshilarious is spot on about this particular piece, though. I didn't need no stinking click track because Tim and lbanks were right on it. I did, however, double the guitar intro!

I've done some collabs with Rokket, and for those I figured out the tempo and added my own click track.

While I think both are killer, the brushes really seem to fit best. (imo)

Nice playing Mad....
Thanks, Dog.... I think so, too re: the brushes.

wow. great job yall. sounds fantastic. the brushes add a great loungey kind of bar feel to it.

but, having said that, i prefer the 'stick' drumming. with the sticks, it gives a lazy new orleans bluesy kind of feel to it that i really like. being from new orleans, it reminds me of something id hear in a french-quarter smoky hole-in-the-wall bar on decatur street on a weeknight. sounds fantastic. great job guys. :)

Mad - The one with brushes rocks! :)

Nice bass too lbanks. :)
Thanks, bigbubba!

And that reminds me, I have been remiss in complimenting lbanks on that sweet bass tone and tight playing. Very well done, sir.

OK, here we go. All props to Dogman for hosting these.

With brushes.

With sticks.
Awesome. I'd have trouble choosing one. They're both great. The brushes is more what I heard in my head first. But the one with the sticks is cool, too. Both are right on.

Great sounding parts lbanks and MadAudio!

If we get some other lead lines this could end up being a longer blues. So it may be that a number of different-sounding backing parts will be good to have so please keep them coming. (Yeah I’m talkin’ to YOU mshilarious. :D )

lbanks – thanks… got it.

Just put the mp3 on a stereo track of your multitrack software. Convert it to wav if needed. No click was used on the orig, so I added a short rhythm gtr lead-in on the acbluesrumble file in the orig post to make the start easier. You can do the same with any file just by copying and pasting the first bar of the tune in another track as a lead in, then taking it out if you want after you’ve recorded your new part. When someone mixes various tracks together that people have done you have to slide the waveforms around a little to sync them up since the blank part at the beginnings of the various files may be a little different.

MadAudio – can I get the stereo mix of the drumset for both of the parts you did?

Tim, I'm becoming a spectator from this point on. Mad's 2 tracks are great. I would have done something similar, but certainly not any better. Can't wait to hear the final result guys, it's rocking.

Status: I'm putting together a mix with Larry's bass, MadAudio's drums, and the two guitar tracks. A really good vocalist is working on lyrics and tracking and if that works out for him I'm going to lengthen it to a normal song length.

What I need at this point are the separate drum track stereo mix from MadAudio (wav or mp3 is OK).

It'd be great to have some more guitar, fiddle, bass (for variety on another verse) or perc in it.

This is going to sound really good with everybody jumping in.

Rami - I gotcha. We'll do another one soon.

Tim

I am trying to do a solo, but my SKILLZ aint to hot... :o
