I just find his comparison of Hitler (in terms of dictatorship) with Sennheiser/Neumann very offensive!
Then be offended. If you think you're going to go through life without ever being offended by something... you're wrong.
Maybe I am too sentive coz I am German.
So am I... but somehow I'm not offended.
What I don't understand is the following: if he doesn't agree with Sennheiser/Neumann's price policy (which, by the way, is very common in Europe and sometimes, believe it or not, for the benefit of the customers), no-one is forcing him to sell their products.
No shit sherlock... notice, we no longer sell their products... we're liquidating current inventory at cost.
After all, its THEIR loss if they have one dealer less, not his, especially if he has a good customer support and low prices to satisfy many customers. So why does he try to humiliate them and start a private war, which he even publicly displays on his web site?
Uhhh... because we don't really like to keep anything "private". If we dropped Neumann without an explanation, I'd have to explain why for the next several years... much like I have to explain why we through Universal Audio out of our store several years ago... this way it wastes a whole lot less of our staff's time dealing with explaining why we're not dealing with them anymore.
As for the 'humiliation' part... well, if you're going to expend the effort... have some fucking fun with it if you can.
I think that's just plain childish and very un-professional.
Every now and again it's good to explore your inner child. As for what is, and what ain't professional... who's to say.
Also, if he had a strong opinion on their business philosophy (dictatorshio or not), he should boycott ALL of their products. Instead, he still tries to make money with their products by selling their vintage stuff. That's just very inconsequent. Just my 2 cents and no offense intended.
Well it's pretty obvious why you're not a fuckin' MENSA candidate. Let's see... new product, made by manufacturer... vintage product... made by manufacturer many years ago, sold to end user... passes from end user to end user over the years... the manufacturer benefits from these end user to end user transactions how?
We "boycott" everything they currently manufacture. As for shit that was made 30-40-50 years ago... some of it is pretty good... some of it hasn't been maintained very well and is shit. The stuff that is well maintained can also be known as "good tools"... the stuff that isn't well maintained would be known as "old shit".
We will, as we have for the last 14 years, endeavor to find tools of the finest caliber, and offer them for purchase. If that includes a microphone in excellent condition that was built in 1956... then that includes a microphone in excellent condition that was built in 1956.
When Neumann/USA came to us a decade ago and asked
us if we would
please become a dealer for their new product... we initially balked. We had been dealing the best of their 'vintage' product for years and didn't deal in 'new equipment'. After some cajoling, some wining and dining on their part, we acquiesced and became a dealer for their new product.
See... we had credibility for only providing our clients with the finest products available. That reputation was of use for Neumann/USA to expand their operations. Well... they've expanded it... they're now in all 110 Banjo Marts around the nation... they no longer need us, we no longer need them... so we're going back to the original model.
Do you "get it" now?
