Zacanger, you seem pretty cool, and rational (which is sometimes in short supply around here). I probably shouldn't have thrown off on you like that. What I should have said is, if you like your guitar tone, then more power to you.

Why, thank you! About the rationality: it's really the mic forum, I think, that's pretty scary.

I like how the premice of this whole thread sort of got turned around.

Originally, it was stated that modellers were "thin and pale". I showed they don't have to sound that way. End of fucking story!

Actually, the original "premice" (what is that, what comes before a mouse?) of this thread was about hating micing amps, and this continued thread was about how cool the V-Amp is. Everyone else just turned that around because the tone of the V-Amp sample... well... it sucks.

All that you proved was that you can't spell premise and you're a Satch copycat.

:D ford van just got owned

anyway, i'm sure that after DAS19 spends some time with the v-amp, he'll find some useful sounds. if the v-amp and v-amp pro sound the same, i know it's capable of putting out better sounds than what was in that clip. i heard what it is capable of.

POD, and bass V-Amp, and they sound pretty decent.
100 More Days

Just takes some work-you can't just use factory presets.
I recently got a decent amp, so have been mic'ing lately.

Hey, you know, posts like this make an excellent point WHEN you post something that sounds better for people to compare! ;)

Check my signature. That song was done with close mic'ing two small amps and a $100 yamaha strat knock-off for the rhythm sections. The lead was a collab and I am not sure how he tracked it, but it sat well in the mix. I would put this against a DI any day...

Now as for my singing......... :o

Yes...I've got the pro V-amp.
My '83 Marshall has hated me ever since.
I made the decision to go 'pro' after owning the x-vamp pedal version for 2 months. I loved that thing too!! Look, I am a home-studio player....I don't do gigs anymore cause I'm an old fart and eventually got pretty sick of it. So the rack is perfect for me....midi control aswell!!....perfect!

I don't really do many gigs anymore either. But there's NO WAY IN HELL I'm gonna give up my Mesa/Boogie stereo rack setup for ANY digital modeller, let alone a Behringer. Midi is cool...I agree....so I have everything controlled with my DMC Ground Control. Yes the rack and cabs are big and heavy but....they're not being moved much and the sound is outta this world....:) Once you go stereo, those heads are a thing of the past, man...lol...but that's opening up another can of worms:)

Solid State can sound nice (not digital...analogue) for ultra clean sounds, but once you start looking for some character & "feel", look somewhere else.

Maybe you hate your JCM800 because Marshall isn't your type of sound....the 800's are a coveted piece of Marshall gear to own...Zakk Wylde plays them too even though he hides behind his SD-1 :)

Well, that's my $.02, IMHO. :D (damn I love these emoticons...)

Tell me what you think here is 3 tracks of a demo I just wrote. There are 2 rhythem tracks panned left and right and one soloing just fooling around. It gets hetic eventually but I just was trying out the tone. What do you think do you think this tone is usable?

This is using my new vamp 2 using the britt hi gain amp setting.

I think your tuning is flat. Other than that, I like your style. I don't think your a bad guitar player like someone else over here had hinted at. You got rhythm and some good, fun 60's style riffs goin' on. I think the problem is in your recording and you could probably also tweak the sound some more. I also think I hear digital distortion on your track too...some levels may be too hot, etc. I'd say once you fix a few of those things and start throwing the tracks in the mix, no problem....:)

All this talk about modellers sounding "thin" and "pale". It makes me remember that most of you couldn't get a fucking good tone from a Les Paul and Plexi!

That is a fucking JStation with a cheap ass Epiphone Les Paul with bolt on neck!

Thicken up the tone and use a bit of spring reverb on your sounds and they will work out much better!

Dude, this sound is TOTALLY early 80's porn soundtrack. I could almost see the credits rolling as I listened. You Rock.

There is an old piece of gear called the "Tri Stereo" that was in a lot of 80's guitar racks that gave you that type of feel to it....

Anyways, other than that, kudos...it totally didn't sound like digital modeller. The more distorted track, however, did.

Say "hi" to John Leslie for me...lol...

Hi sbcgroup2,
let me just clarify, the Marshall now hates me!! (not the other way around).
And well done on saying it's a JCM800!! Very good guess!! I bought it new in 83, and dearly love that sound, um,...er...when playing live.
Unfortunately, this amp tended to 'really sound great' only when driven (very) hard. But I just can't do that regularly anymore, and this upsets me considerably.
The "Modern Hi-Gain" function (Tweaked a little) on my V-amp pro emulates what I use to hear from my Marshall incredibly well, and I seem to be able to actually track that sound, almost verbatim......and with a slide/press of a mouse.
So, I guess, If I had the choice, and the house/studio, I would be micking my beautiful amp for the majority of my 'hard-rock' songs.....but V-amp is doing just fine!! (especially for clean, chorusy, delayed stuff).
I must thankyou for your response!! :)
Kindest regards,
Superspit.

Oooooooooo...the spellin' patrol is out in force!

Satch copycat? LOL.............that is so fucking funny. There is actually far more Santana influence in that than Satriani dumbazz.

Thanks man.

Ive realized that DI can only do clean. gain just doesnt sound good and I realize for the reason LIMIT says the amp pushes air when distorted and this cannot be emulated well by a direct in box.

??????????

Yes...but in the final analysis, air gets 'pushed' by your speakers on playback of your recording.(?)

Oh Em Gee ZEEEE, you spelled dumbass with two Zs! That must make you cool! I don't respect Santana as a guitarist, so that makes you even LESS cool, sorry. Nice try, though.

PS Saying 'fucking' and 'LOL' won't make you cooler either.
