Most excellent!

Some very good points brought up here.

I live in a high plains desert and in the summer, it'll be bone dry (mostly) with highs up to 110 degrees (f) and lows down to 40. The winter has a similar spread of degree differences, sometimes with lots of snow, sometimes not.

My "studio" is in my garage, a room in a room and fairly well insulated. In the winter, I leave a heater on 24-7 and can keep a fairly consistent temp, variance of about 20 degrees. The summers, I got nothin. :( No AC or swamp cooler so it varies quite a bit. Not as much as the outside temp but still...

My pal hangs his in his room at his house. And on an outside wall. And since we live in the same area, we're both reading this. :D

Gotta say, thanks again guys. Your input is much appreciated.

We got 20 bucks on this and he'll take a check! The boob. ;)

For those of you who hang em on a wall (or a stand :D ), you haven't noticed any tweakage or anything from daytime hi's and overnite lows? No long term illnesses. Issues etc?
I've got a sizeable collection of vintage and new electrics and acoustics. About 11 years ago I ran out of floorspace for stands so I started hanging 'em on the wall. Temperature pretty stable here in Los Angeles(I don't use air conditioning)and there's enough ambient humidity here year round that there are no drying issues. No neck or warping issues on guitars that have been out for 11 years and longer.

The few guitars I have that are in cases are only there because I've run out of floor and wall space. Those are the ones I keep forgetting I have.

The only thing you have to watch out for with stands and hangers is the rubber padding. Some of the older and cheaper ones have chemicals in the rubber that will interact with and damage a guitar's finish. I learned that the hard way on a couple of guitars.

Hmmmm ..... sometimes my axes don't even get in out of the truck!
:)
Since I'm mainly a gigging musician, my axes tend to stay in the case 'cause they're always going to or coming back from somewhere. I think otherwise I'd still put them in cases. How can there be any doubt that they're protected better in a case?

Some say I should keep my Ric 4003 in the case....but I've noticed I don't get it out enough, sooo It's on the wall!

I keep my guitars on stands. Means I can just pick 'em up and play them. My Sax, however, stays in its case and i hardly ever play it - I can see a connection there.

I live in Britain, so hot weather isn't really a problem, and when I'm setting my guitars up with new strings I do it pretty fucking brutally (ie. pick up the guitar by the strings to stretch them out), so my guitars don't tend to go out of tune very often.

Stretching

(ie. pick up the guitar by the strings to stretch them out), so my guitars don't tend to go out of tune very often.] Glad to see I'm not the only one who prestretches the strings.

That's the way I stretch em too. :D

From the looks of the poll numbers, I'll be coughing up $20.

That's ok, tho. I've got a few that would really look good on the wall and free up some floor space.

We (especially my pal :) ) Thank you.

I hang the electrics, and case the acoustics....but Light had a very good point of cases hiding them from from kids and animals.....

We got no kids, and no one with kids would ever come to my house, but that makes sense..... :D

thee great compromise

What if you hung your cases on the wall?

:D :D :D

Excellent! And I'll only have to pay $10.

Damn dude, you're good.

My guitars, my studio, my house. I don't care about the safer, better, or more reliable method.

Cases on a 4 to 1 ratio with 5 instruments hanging on the studio wall. Earthquakes, heat, no humidity...they're better off in cases with humidifiers.

Hanging them or keeping them on stands makes it easier to grab them and play them... But if you keep them in a room with a window (even a North-facing one) the finish will fade from UV rays coming through the window.

I learned the hard way.

And Casem comes out of turn 3 lookin for a jump on Hangem when Hangem kicks in the turbo and opens up the lead again on Casem.

The crowd goes crazy...the guitars are in awe...(if not cases)

I learned that one as well. I replaced all the rubber tubing with clear flexible plastic.

My acoustic usually sits where the Gretsch is at. I took the Gretsch out of its case(that I normally keep it in :D ), hung it on the wall and put my acoustic in the case and took it to Jamfest.

I just started unpacking yesterday. :D
