Then we are in a collapsing universe?
I had thought that Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe was expanding.
you guys are both right.

correct. It's expanding now. What hasn't been established as strongly is whether it will continue to expand indefinitely, though that seems to be the prevailing opinion.

correct.
The thinking at this point is eternal expansion but physics and astronomy are changing rapidly and things long thought to be have their detractors so we'll see.
I find all this stuff quite interesting but lets face it.All the deep-thinking stoners out there are eventually gonna be proven correct--- that we're just a ball of shit suspended in an evaporating mud puddle from another dimension where what we percieve to be billions of years is less than a split second.
unless it turns out that some else 30 zillion light years away accounts for the red shift.Hubble with his redshift measurement discoveries proved that the universe is expanding.
Which came to establish *Hubble's Law* which within it can be found *Hubble's constant* that has a value of H0 = 73.8 ± 2.4 (km/s)/Mpc.
will your wireless work that far?I'm right on it then Steve. I'll be back in 30 zillon light years. Don't wait up for me.![]()

Back to GC...
mrs apl went in to score some cables for me as a gift, birthday or something, and she told them she needed two six foot quarter inch TRS cables.
The guy claimed that GC did not carry that brand.
You should be able to track your order - even if you can't do it, the guys at the store should be able to look it up. Or else you can call the GC.com people to track it down for you. Not sure if I can look it up for you, but I'm happy to try if it's still giving you trouble.
I think that some places just don't train their sales staff as well. GC is trying to remedy that by putting all the new hires through hours and hours of training before they even put them on the floor, but sometimes you just have to learn as you go. I am a college graduate with a fair amount of recording experience and I find it very irritating when a customer comes in looking for a very specific item that I'm not familiar with and then talks down at me because I don't know about it (I don't mean to suggest that you are one of those people, so please don't take it that way). There are a LOT of things we have to know about at GC, and even just learning all the brands we carry is a lot to remember.
Anyway, I guess my point is, yeah, a lot of GCs could probably use work. But we're not all bad! I always tell people not to get the super cheap cables because they aren't guaranteed and break all the time, but I don't really push the expensive brands unless they seem interested. Completely pointless for live use, anyway...
If you ever want anything relatively hassle-free, shoot me a PM. Though I am required to try to get you to buy Pro Coverage (it's not THAT bad, really!).
Thanks thebigcheese.
It's sometimes easy to forget how tough the retail world is, and how management can require seales staff to do stuff in a manner customers consider stupid or offensive. My one brief stint on the sales floor at an audio retailer left me wondering how people could put up with that crap for extended periods, much less a career.
If you don't mind me asking, how does brand selection by the customer affect the commissions and spiffs (aka income) of the sales force? I know A friend of mine who was a manager for Radio Shack used to describe the dumb ways that Tandy used to vary commission multiplier points based on metrics like "sales per ticket" or "items per ticket" or amount of specific items sold. Does GC do stuff like that?
I will leave it at that, in case they are stalking me.
