Djembes Rock
I recently got a UAD-1 Project Pak and absolutely love it. The Pulltec eq was so cool that the Pultec Pro is a must have. Beyond that my budget allows for one more plug and I'm wondering about Dreamverb.
Of course Sonar4 already has the Pantheon, Sonitus and Cakewalk verbs, plus I have the the Waves RenMaxx collection that has the Renaissance Reverb. Would Dreamverb be enough of a difference to justify spending the money?
I haven't started the demo yet. Comparing the verbs I already have are confusing enough for the time being!
Thanks for any thoughts and opinions on this.

I recommend buying another UAD-1 card, either the studio pak or the ultra pak. That way you get all those plugs plus the processing power of two cards.
The licenses for all the plugs are valid for up to four cards, and if you start buying the plugs individually it's going to cost you more.

acidrock has a good point...

Other that I might opt for the La2a/fairchild for compression, PEQ for EQ, or the Plate 140 for reverb. Depending on which one you feel you need more.

I think the general consensus for the most part, is that TC Electronics (the TC Powercore card) makes some of the better reverbs and delay's, and UAD-1 makes the best dynamics-based plug-ins.

many people also feel the plate 140 evened the reverb game...i've never used the power core so I can't comment. It definitly has a weight to it rarely heard in plug-ins

I don't ever plan on needing arena type reverbs...just simulations of nice, intimate rooms. So, maybe the UAD-1 Realverb Pro and Reflection plugin are adequate.
In case a little more verb is needed, is the Plate 140 that much better than the Waves and Sonitus reverbs? If not, I may go for the Precision Limiter or Precision EQ instead.
Btw, if you buy another card, do you have to pay full price even though you are repurchasing plugs that you already have?

The 140 is dramatically better than either of these.
The Realverb has never produced a usable sound except for maybe drums in my experience or background vocals.

You can use the same plugs ins on up to 3 cards, maybe 4, memory fails me.

does the project pak come with the 1176? we used that last time we were in a real studio (ie not my bedroom) and its just incredible. the perfect thing for snare drums.

the la2a was great for vocals too. so i'd recommend either of those.

The Project Pak comes with the light version of the 1176. Also, the current promotion is a free LA2.
Anyway, I ended up getting the Plate 140 and couldn't be happier with a reverb.

maybe i'm just a noob and can't really tell a huge difference, but for free, FreeverbToo is amazing.

i have achieved some of the best drum verbs with it (the presets aren't amazing, but since you seem serious, you won't use presets often anyways)
