Hi guys,

I just bought an M-audio audiophile 2496.
what I want to do is connect my mixing console(Yamaha MG 10/2)
to the sound card. :D

Now here is the thing....What I/O of the MG 10/2 are the
ones to be connected to the sound card. And viseversa
what I/O of the sound card should I use to connect the console???? :(
And what cables should I buy???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for reading. :)

Connect the 24/96 inputs to the channel 1/2 inserts of the MG. This wil give a direct feed from the MG preamps on channels 1/2 to the 24/96 inputs.

Connect the 24/96 outputs to the channel 7/8 inputs of the MG.

Connect your speakers to the MG c-r outs. Careful though, you can get a feedback loop that could damage your speakers. Pull down the master fader to start with.

That's one of many ways to do it. You can use the channel inserts, sends, tape outs, c-r outs, or master outs to feed the 24/96 inputs. You can use any inputs on the MG to bring in sound from the 24/96.

Awsome man....thank you very much

Now what cables do i need to connect everything???

For the inputs/outputs from the mg to the 24/96, you need rca to 1/4" cables. I don't know what you're using for monitors so I don't know what type of connectors they have. If they have 1/4" connectors, you will just need 1/4" cables. If you're using something with a mini plug, you will need 1/8" to 1/4".

It all depends on how you want to hook things up. There are a few different ways of hooking things up, depending on your needs.

Ohhh ok nice.....ive got the m-audio StudioPro 3 monitor but those i know how
to connect them...

I wasnt sure what type of cables I needed to connect the sound card
and M console....any brand of rca cables is good or do I have to buy
an specific brand???

and thanks again....you're the best :D

any brand will do. i would get some cables that are molded though. the ones with metal connectors can be easily repaired if you own a soldering iron. if you don't own one, get one! one of the best tools you can have.

I think he ment to say DON'T get molded connectors.......meaning plastic molded connectors, they aren't so good.

yea, oops....don't get cables with molded connectors.

Oki doki....thank you very much both of you for the help....
2morrow I'll be gettin those cables.

Thanks again....take care :) :D

Hey I'm sorry.....It's me agian  :D

Ok......with the connection you told me....can I EQ in realtime???.. :(
if not what connection, sound card....etc I would have to have(Buy)??....

and sorry for the inconvenients :) :D

you should really learn how signal flows thru your mixer. yamaha has an excellent explanation in their manual for the mg series. if you don't have the manual, you can download from the yamaha website. i highly recommend reading it.

Yeah i got the manual.....but it doesnt realy tell how can I connect the mixer to get a realtime EQ....

Im going to read it over to see what you told me.

Thanks for the reply :D

Take care :)
