can't pan recordings...

i bought an e-mu 0404 a while back and have tried that but for some reason when i install the sound card and go into cakewalk it doesn't register anything.... i was also kinda pissed about that. it was like this even with my old computer. and "distortedrumble"... i know the plug is in stereo.. but the hole i plug it into on my motherboard might be mono, because even if there was another sleeve i could see how it would get both signals...
 
that would only let me mix 2 channels of my 16 channel mixer at once.
 
LOL mo cards...mo problems....ok you tried going through the direct outs when you had the emu in but not now? try it now. as for the emu card. you need to disable the onboard audio and then install the card so the computer has no other primary sound but the emu....when the computer recognizes it, programs should follow suit
 
no, i'm saying a direct output will only "directly output" 1 channel. i have a 16 channel mixer. i don't have an interface or anything....
 
i should just try my e-mu again and see what happens...
i'll try to disable all other audio...
