Can anyone comment on the differences between the Studio Projects C1 and B3?

I have an axe to grind?

Look at all my posts reguarding this situation. I have only called Alan when he s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s-the truth a tad. Other than that, I have no SP mics and cannot or ever have commented on how they sound.

Long times ago DJL was on the right track and along with Chessrock helped to set Alan straight. I believed they were right at that time. I agreed that alot of the b*****t that was being posted by some at PMI was really overboard. If you honestly believe that a $100 mic will sound like, or be better than "some of those german brands" then you are deluded. If you *like* the sound of those $100 mics, then I say be happy that you saved an arm and a leg. This is the only place where people can keep talking about a daydream until it comes true.

As for all those lame car stories, go sit in a Mercedes-Benz and take a ride. If you think it is not worth $40,000 more than a Toyota Camery then you sure don't understand *why* pro stuff costs more and what it can do in the long run.

Oh, BTW, you cannot be surprised if it is "The PMI group or his friends" as it HAS to be:
1. Someone who KNOWS DJL and
2. Someone who HATES DJL and
3. Someone who LOVES SP mics and PMI.

So, it HAS to be one of PMI's friends as I really don't think that PMI would do such a thing. This makes 1 PMI groupie the single lowest human being on the planet.

I had two Mercedes back in the 80's. I wouldn't give a bucket of warm spit for either one of 'em. Junk.

Even *pro* stuff can be crap on occasions. :D :

You know ... I think you turn in a good line in stretchings of the truth yourself. :)

Can you please explain why said PMI groupie would have made a website taking the piss out of me first?

Hang on, what about:

1. Someone who KNOWS this forum
2. Someone who HATES everyone
3. Someone who MAKES websites taking the piss out of members
4. Someone who LOVES keeping everyone guessing
5. Someone who RIPS drama queens who take themselves too seriously. And I include myself in that category or I wouldn't have been on the receiving end.

It all points to the Seifer - I mean, look at his record with Bruce and Cloneboy, not to mention all the other shit he churned out. Failing that, perhaps Jesse Michael Garcia or Father Time had a day out of the asylum?

So, lets take this bit by bit, shall we? By your own admission, you neither own, nor have used any SP mics. Yet you persist in claiming that they are not as good as "German Brand" mics? You know this how? That's what I thought. You don't know jack except for what you've been spoonfed by others.

As for the "lame car stories", well, I can only relate this from my own personal experience. I recently went car shopping with my Father. We drove a number of luxury sedans, including the E and S class Mercedes and BMW 7 series. None of them could compare to the Lexus LS430 in terms of fit, finish, comfort and handling. IMO, the 2 Mercedes left a lot to be desired.

The bottom line is, you are a brand snob. Deal with it. Embrace it. But don't force it on the rest of us.

Once again:

1. That's a pretty long list here
2. See number one
3. That's kind of a leap in logic considering they went after noisedude first.

I think you need to buy some brand name logic study courses.

And for the record, I was the one who went after Ted Perlman for his statement about the C1 being "exactly the same as a Neumann U87 - no difference". Do a search on "Perlman" to see the thread.

But of course, since I have a forum at PMI, I must be one of Alan's "flunkies" who defends all things PMI, at least in DJL's mind, I'm sure.

A simple search of the HR forum will show that I've torn into Alan whenever I thought he was wrong or misleading. In spite of that, I happen to think Alan is a great guy and sells a fine product.

As of this writing (5/10/05), I don't own (or have on loan) ANY Studio Project microphones, but I do plan to buy a T3, when I can afford it. That microphone can hold its own with a lot of very expensive, world-class microphones, in my opinion.

That's good news because I finally cleared the funds to order my T3 today! :) And I'm getting my own set of C4s and a ThreeQ too cos I wanted to play with the compressor til I can afford the TwinQ.

So I guess I'm a groupie?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHA ... any sucker who's over-paying so they can get brands only needs to look at the 'German' (or is it Austrian?) AKG C1000S ... shows what you can get for your money!

Sorry - I'm a little giddy. :)

Good point. Talk about crap top end ... whatever you think about the C1, the C3000 is a million steps down the usability scale :D

Well, I've never heard the C4s, or the ThreeQ, or the TwinQ, so I can't comment on those units, but I think you'll really like the T3.

I've heard C4s already, and played with both the ThreeQ and TwinQ - so I'm safe there. I've said before that I reckon for us lower-end users, compression plugins work really well. But I heard something different on the new Meeks that I haven't heard done in software ... so the preamp and EQ is frankly a bonus extra at this price.

Thanks very much for the T3 advice - I did a tonne of searching in deciding to save a little extra and wait for it. But it's going to spoil my comebacks ... I can no longer claim that I own no SP stuff!!!! :D

I guess your opinion will put them out of buisiness.

Trying to talk to a nitwit like you is talking to a wall.

Good luck in your recording career. You will need it with conclusions like this.
