And I've said it a million times - MXL mics aren't available for sensible money in Britain. They cost two or three times (and often more) what you pay for them in the states.

Nik, you can get MXL mics in the Netherlands, brand new, the V69 Mogami for € 250 and the V77S for € 450.

I think we've concluded that anyone who recommends a specific brand of microphone is clearly on the payroll of that company and is receiving kickbacks to pimp these mics (or is it "mikes?"). That being the case, I must recommend only Brauner and Telefunken microphones for any and all recording purposes.

Oh, and Earthworks are pretty good, too.

And Schoeps and Neumann's are decent.

BLUE is acceptable, on a budget.

Everything else is crap.

Except for AT, AKG, & Shure. Their higher-end stuff will work in a pinch.

You didn't mention them at all... must be an error!

They are really quite good mikrofoner (oh... wait... I was shortly involved in the making of these mics 20 years ago, so I suppose I'm not allowed to say this then ;-)
