I know that the KM84 is a bit of a classic, but what about the KM64? It too is a small diaphragm mic and a newer model to the 85 I believe? Is it as good as the 84?

Cheers

Well, I haven't used the KM84, but I was at a session where we got to check out a well-maintained KM64, and I only had one thing to say...

WOW!!! That mic is frickin' sweet! It's a tube small-diaphragm condenser, and on some bluesy acoustic guitar, it really captured the true essence of the performance.

Personally, I would give a lot to have 1 (or 2!) in my mic locker. One of the nicest mic's I've ever had the experience of hearing.

The KM84 is basically the SS version of the tubed 64, or at least that's my understanding...
The 64 is a great sounding mic....

Nice one! Sounds great...

...However, the owner of the one I have my eye on has not tested it, as he can't power it! So if I was to buy, I would be taking a real gamble, as I am out of work and very very poor!!

I would try to test it first, but he lives in another country!

What would you pay for one that looks in very good condition, but is there is no certainty it will work at all??
