- Try to let a mix sit overnight, or over a meal break- whatever time you can afford, before finalizing it. You'll either hear things in the morning that you were too fried to notice last night or it'll sound great and only take a few minutes to press before moving on to the next song.
- Pray that the young band you just took a job from has a producer. Guess who has to produce if they don't? Charge extra for it if you can, but do it anyway if you can't. They'll blame you if it sucks no matter what.
- Be honest. If you can't play something....don't. Practice until you can play it or write a different part.

if you do a folk song that you did not write make sure that you know hwo the copyright works on it before you record or throw any time in the studio about it. i just recorded a great take of a song that i thought was Public Domain and it turns out not to be so that means i can't afford to use it now
