    Budget priced B&K 4011

I know that my subject sounds impossible, and it is...but I'm looking for a pair of small diaphragm condensors (cardioid) that can produce a similar flavor to the 4011's in a budget of $500-700. The application will mainly be acoustic guitar. I've enjoyed the sounds of those who have used...

    ousting snare overtones

everytime I record snare, it seems to have a 'hollow overtoney' sort of sound, rather than a nice textured or snappy sound. This is no matter what snare I'm recording. How can I avoid this? thanks.

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

Hello once again, I'm ditching my Digi002 Pro Tools setup, and expanding the studio a bit. I'll be doing no MIDI work, only audio input/output. I'm looking for a program, or set of programs that would be ideal for my use. I know a lot of these multitracking programs specialize in MIDI, but...

    16 channel recording Digi002r

I'm in a bind, and figure there's some smarties on here who have recording experience and can perhaps work me through this issue. Currently working with a digi002, I have 8 simultaneous channels available. This records at 24/96. I'm wanting to record 16 channels at once, so I looked into the...

    Studio Projects T3 on guitar

I'd like to hear from those who have experience with the Studio Projects T3 on other applications outside of the vocal realm....Acoustic and electric guitar particularly. I'd appreciate any comparisons to other similarly ranged tube condensers (Rode K2, etc). thanks

Designating Mbox/Digi002 as main sound device

Is there a way, in Windows XP, that I can assign the ProTools hardware to be my main sound device for outputted sound?

    Vocal Mic Orientation

I've got a question concerning vocal mic orientation. I've noticed that in every studio I've seen the vocal mic is always placed upside down similar to an overhead drum mic. What is the reason and/or advantage of having the vocal mic upside down in this manner? Is it bad to have it standing up?

Tube 2 Channel Strip near $1000

Hello, I'm looking for a tube 2 channel strip for near $1000. I don't want an unuseable tube (like the dbx unit for $600). My main areas of interest are in the preamp and the EQ over the compressor that tends to come with channel strips. Thanks

Harmonically rich amp seeks good mic

I'm looking for some mic suggestions, particularly large condensors, for my new amp. It's got the JTM45 trannies, so it's pretty harmonically rich. I'm mostly a clean player, and in my Fender using days, the Shure SM57 did me fine, but now with this new amp I want something that captures the...

    Mackie UAD-1

I'm saddened to see this go, being that it's an amazing secret weapon in the studio, but I'm concentrating on a live rig, and need money for my new amp. You can read all about the UAD-1 on mackie's website. I need to sell it ASAP to pay for the new live rig, so I'm only asking $420 + shipping.

    Echo Layla24

I need to sell my Echo Layla24/96 unit (rackmount, card, and cable) ASAP...I am having a new guitar amp made, and don't need 2 Laylas, so I'm parting ways with one. It's in stellar shape...Buyer pays shipping....I was selling it for $600, but it really needs to go, so it's only $500 + shipping.

    tons of stuff...studio closing

I'm unfortunate to say that my studio will be no longer. I know for a fact I'll be buying back a load of this equipment when I get going again. This stuff was a dream to work with. peaking at low decibals...

Hello folks, I am running an Echo Layla based setup using an external board, and Cubase SX as well as Nuendo. After making sure the levels are right on the board, when I am recording in Cubase or Nuendo, the levels (decibal wise) are soooo small. Visually it's like a midget wave form in all...

Hello, I am using a Behringer MX3282a mixer, Behringer Powerplay Pro headphone amp, and an Echo Layla24 soundcard setup. My goal is to be able to have a setup where each set of headphones can hear playback, as well as a live full band mix. I know in order for the headphone amp to receive...
