I actully got it to work perfectly now I can dump each track in one by one in perfect time together me happy :)

I was actually working on another song, but I'm coming back to fix this one this weekend. I think I have a better understanding of what to do with it now. I still can't get cakewalk to pan the guitars and overheads :(

I took a bunch of advice from my last post and here is a new song we just did. Drums: 2 overhead, 1 snare, 1 kick mic 2 guitars, bass, no vocals just yet I made it only the first 80 seconds so the file is small. I am still trying to train my ears and I'm not quite sure whats wrong or right...

thats a crock of crap 16 or 24 bit recording will sound the same between cakewalk and sonar as far as effects... if you make shitty effects in cakewalk, are they going to sound better in pro tools? no they are still shitty if you make your effects right, then they are right in both systems...

were you using cakewalk as the slave or master? I read in my tascam manual it said the 788 is a more stable master than a PC computer, perhaps you have that issue?

hey guys, thanks for the great comments! I will rework the mix today while I'm at "work" hehehe I'm still unsure about the "rolling off" thing on eq here's is a screen print of the eq module I use in cakewalk, what would I click to roll off under 200? :O thanks again...

thanks everyone for your replies! I guess its completely dependent on where you listen to, one person says the vocals are too loud and the post above says the vocals aren't coming through enough. does that mean they just aren't clear enough or aren't loud enough to come through the music...

yes sir, drums are real recored with 3 58's and a kick drum mic the guitars were done with a line 6 pod pro set to mesa boogie

hmm so the only way is to disable it all together? so I can't use the soundblaster for playback? yea the echo gina says 24 bit right on it, I wasn't planning on recording with the sound blaster

haha musk, don't even get me started on mtv's play lists how many friggen real world marathons can you show a week?? i have been mtv free for over a year now

making 100 livings? think of how few bands really get signed to a major label deal now take that MAYBE 10% of those bands that are lucky enough to get signed actually MAKE money. If they are lucky enough to get on mtv, they better take what they can get because chances are they'll be working...
