Sounds pretty good. I definitely like the Marshall better....shocker, right? Lol. But this is nice and crunchy. You can hear the different character of this amp. I do think the Pod "stompbox" might be adding a little harshness to it. It's got like a slight "digital" flavor to it. Not bad, but it's there to me. In a mix it probably won't matter. That amp does seem to get along with the V30 though. Sounds good overall.

The wife and kids left so this time I fired up the JVM and pulled out my beautiful Hallmark Mosrite wannabe. I have yet to do some clips for this thread with the new Seymor Duncan P-Rails pickup, so here's a quicky with some stupid shit I made up on the spot.

Hallmark 60 Custom w/ SD P-Rails bridge pickup
Marshall JVM410 - OD2 Channel, Green mode
1960a - SM57 on G12-65 on-axis on-grill halfway to edge
Presence - 0
Resonance - 0
Bass - 7
Mid - 7
Treb - 5.5
Gain - 2.5
Ch vol - 5
Master vol - 5

P-90 Mode
Humbucker mode
Single Rail (Strat) Mode

The bucker & rails sound really cool, then again so do the P90s.
You have CHOICE.

did you leave the amps' volume the same for all 3 modes?
If so I'm gonna have to get the new p-rails cause I get a big volume drop with I go to single coil mode.

Thanks Ray! I personally like P-90 mode the best. It's got some meat but still has clarity....just like a real P-90 should. :)

Yup, the amp stayed the same for all three clips. Alls I did was flip modes on the pickup. Nothing else changed. This was actually all one track all done at once, I just split it into three separate files.

All your clips sound good Greg....no surprise there though, but I like the first P-90 clip best myself, it's got more clarity than the h/bucker on the gain-d up clips....All of 'em sound good though....There's a big difference in the JVM by just pushing a button/flipping a switch, ain't there??? Not gonna say for sure, but the JVM is still a possibility in the near future, just depends on what comes out during NAMM before too long....Again, sounds good dude...

On my clip, yeah, I think the POD is adding artifacts man, it always has, that's why I'm gonna try to get some real stomps before too long too....Thanks dude....Definitely a difference between the Tweaker & DSL, I like 'em both, but the 'lil Marshall wins every time....

Oh yeah, Happy New Year tone chasers!!!!!

Thanks. You too!

Yup, the JVM is a versatile beast. Almost to a fault. All of it sounds good to me, but there are times when I'm scratching my head trying to pick an awesome sound to go with. Lol. I've had it a year now and I'm still discovering new little things with it. Modern? Vintage? Somewhere in between? Green mode higher gain? Orange mode lower gain? It's all different and usable but all sounds like a Marshall. Great, great amp. My default is OD1 green, low/mid gain, but I have been playing with other settings a lot more lately.

And, so I'm at my Scottish buddies house last night for new years, and he has this sitting in his bar room.....

Yup, the Marshall fridge. Kind of neat, absolutely ridiculous. I'll say this.....seeing it person, it's VERY accurate. The power/standby switches (they do flip, but don't light up), knobs (they do turn), tolex, grill cloth, corner protectors, rivets, input jacks, piping, and Marshall logo faceplates are all 100% legit. This thing is made with real amp parts. Lol.

LOL, the fridge....there was a big shitstorm in the Marshall forum over that thing....all those guys wanted a 50th anniversary amp, you know, 100w, with all the bells/whistles, & Marshall released a fuckin' refrigerator....LOL....

I meant to say on my clip yesterday, the clean/hot switch, if you carefully toggle it, there's 2 "secret/hidden" gain settings, in between the clean/hot....it like: pos 1: clean, pos 2: clean w/more gain, pos 3: hot w/less gain, pos 4: hot....it seems like the 2 "hidden" positions are really a little different than the normal clean/hot, & the bass/treb is a little different on each (with the tonestack set the same), but those are really hard to get the switch to stay in place, especially with my big fuckin' fingers LOL (where it's a mini-toggle)....I've tried all the other mini-switches, & the clean/hot switch is the only one that does this, but again, it's really hard to get it to stay put & "find" those other 2 positions....I don't know if this would do anything to fuck my amp up (I wouldn't think so really), but it's pretty cool to find shit like that after having the amp for over a year now....

JVM....GAS....LOL....I read the forum posts about modding Jonny Deep's JVM-1, & I was wondering if that would apply & work with my DSL-1...I really don't think I'd attempt it with the little 50th amp, but it sounds cool anyway...LOL...

Happy New Year guys....

I wonder if you're activating both circuits or something. That's interesting.

Yeah the Marshall fridge is pretty retarded. It's neat, and it'd be cool to have one as a gift, but I'd never buy one.

Yeah, it's cool finding little shit like that....

Clear your inbox dude, I tried to send you a pm, but your inbox is full.....I'll just do the packing thing tonight/tomorrow morning, & get my end shipped out probably Friday....Talk to you later tonight, gotta head off to work in a few minutes....

Sorry man, inbox is now cleared.

Played and partied last night with this guy:

Tommy Talton,The Tommy Talton Band,

I kinda knew him around '73 in Macon when he had a band named Cowboy.
He's currently playing with Gregg Allman some plus his own band. He has played with a lotta names thru the years.
Anyway he's in town for the Gregg Allman concert and then is gonna have his band play the Bank afterwards so they closed the Bank tonight and he had an invitation-only party and concert with musicians he wanted to play with and he and the promoter made a point to have someone find me and invite me.
:)

So I went .... he played an opening song on acoustic .... invited his band up for the second song and invited me up for the third!! I was up there the rest of the night whenever he was playing.
I played with everyone else too but I was one of the few invited up with his band and the only one that just stayed up there.
It was an awesome night .... great playing .... great music

End of the night he kept telling me I had to come tonight after my gig 'cause they're starting late so I should be able to make it and play the show with his band.
:)

It's not even impossible Gregg will drop by and I know Gregg so if I can ever get face to face with him and say, "Remember that gig in the park we played with ...... "

But regardless of anything I'm chuffed that he remembered me enough to invite me and then to get invited to play tomorrow night ..... I be's happy!

:) :) :)

That's awesome man. :)

If you get any pics let's see em!

So what geeter/amps were you using? Did you play sax? How many sims were on stage?
