No audible distortion.....

I see what you're saying, but in the final analysis I do think human perception is the measure when we're talking about how something sounds because we're talking about how something sounds to humans of course. :)

Oh you don't have to argue in favor of perceptions with me....I spent many posts arguing for that with Ethan and a few others not too long ago! :D

See...no one would have issue with TM saying something like "I love analog, for me, nothing sounds better".....etc...etc. here in the analog forum. I mean, this IS where all the analog guys say that and talk about that.

Thing is, he's the one who was picking a bone over the "distortion" thing from the other thread. He took offense with John Willet mentioning that he preferred digital because analog had some degree of "distortion"...as in, a change of the original signal.
So if TM is going to toss audio terminology around, he can't change it's meaning as he personally "hears it". He took the position that because HE never heard it, John had no proof that there was any distortion with analog audio.
Now TM has been back-peddling in this thread as it has evolved.

AFA as perception...that's a different angle, and I'm all for talking about how our perception molds/changes our decisions and why any perception is valid if it leads us to something better/imporved...etc...though yes, it's all subjective.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY MOROSLAV !!! :listeningmusic:

Post up some of that audio you say you have.....all I found was some MP3 files of drum solos you did back in 2000.

I would like to hear some distortion free analog audio. :)

Well I might as well cue part 3 of the traditional debate...

I have no problem with people making recording and mix choices based on perception. Indeed there are a lot of things where raw specs are unhelpful. For example, my choice of microphone for a specific voice is determined much more by how I think it sounds rather than trying to match a frequency response graph to a singer.

That said, be careful that your perceptions are genuine, not some kind of placebo effect. As soon as you know (or think you know) what gear you're using, your brain introduces all sorts of perceptions that simply aren't there. I know lots of people love to argue with Ethan but, if you take the trouble to listen to what he says and analyse some of his experiments, you'll see just how strong the power of suggestion is.

By all means take your choices based on what you hear--just make sure you really ARE hearing it.

(Otherwise I have a lovely bridge and some $5000 mains cables I'd love to sell you!)

Ok I will try my best to do that ASAP miroslav :)

I get the concern...but I feel that even placebo is OK *if it leads to something better*. I mean, when they give sugar pills to someone and it helps....it's a good thing in the end.
Of course, the danger is that it can also lead to misconceptions that result in a worse end-product...so it's a trail-n-error thing, finding out what kind of "mojo" works for you or against you. :D

Don't rush....just figured you had plenty of time since 2000 to lay down some more tracks besides the drums. :)
I mean, you're the one that said you had all these great recordings with "no audible distortion".

Yes I did and do have a lot of good things before 2000 and after but, just barely learning how to create an Mp3 and get the stuff on computer :o

Go hang on the Digital Forum....the guys there will help you with that. :laughings:

Thanks but I think they hate me there  Although I record on digital(standalone recorders) more than analog at the moment, but they seem to frown on that method of recording also

Well, we've told you that many times, but glad to know you finally understand! :thumbs up:

Or maybe they just don't like the way his ones and zeros are arranged. :D

Cheers! :)

You mean mine haha....101010101010100101010101010101010010001011110011011010000101111001110000011011010010101000000000111101011001010111111011011011000011001110001111100100110010010000000111010101010101010101111110000110101010101000110110011000001110001110001101

Yeah, ROLO head used to use a stand-alone. He just recently switched to computer recording, actually.
