I've got my firepod hooked up to my computer for recording via the firewire and the direct outs of each input going to a mixer for live jamming/recording. My question is does the preamp affect the direct out signal as well as the line to the computer or does it affect the direct out at all...

I'm looking to pick up a usb hub as I am running out of ports on my PC. Can anybody tell me why some require a power cord while other with the same amount of ports don't? Is one better than the other? (I'm running out of power outlets too)

A quick question for anyone who can help me out; When using drum triggers live what should the volume be at on the module before it goes to the P.A. I have been leaving it at 5 and adjusting my gain on the board. Is this the proper method or does it matter?

What's the general opinion of the preamps on the firepod? I've been thinking of picking one up and I don't know if I should also get an external preamp as well.

I currently mix through a small 4 channel behringer mixer and use the tape out to go to my soundcard. Is this the same as using my main outs? Should I be using one over the other? I use the tape outs mainly because of the convenience (rca jacks to my audiophile 2496 rca jacks)

I don't know if I am overlooking something or what but can you not control the input level on this card? When I adjust the HW 1/2 level it only controls the monitoring volume but the meters still peak. :confused: If the answer is something really dumb feel free to poke fun. (be gentle please)

Are M audio monitors generally reputable? I'm limited to around the $200 range and was looking at the studiopro 4 and the dx4. They are the same price but the dx4 has more input choices. Any suggestions or preference? Thanks
