Live Drum Triggers

A quick question for anyone who can help me out;
When using drum triggers live what should the volume be at on the module before it goes to the P.A.
I have been leaving it at 5 and adjusting my gain on the board. Is this the proper method or does it matter?
 
5 is probably safe. You should try to send line level, meaning you set the gain on the board to unity and turn up the module until you get line level.
 
I don't know what board you are using, but normally if you solo (or PFL) the channel, the meter will read the input of that channel. With drum sounds, you have to be conservative on the levels because the meters aren't always fast enough to register the transients. Also watch the clip light and make sure that isn't always on.

This is just basic gain structure.
