I want to put a pickup cover on my seymour Duncan JB. I don't like the way my Les Paul looks without them. Do I need to have somebody else wax dip them, or can I do it myself? I installed the pickup (with a coil tap) myself, so I am relatively handy.

Sounds like your intonation is wacked. If this is the case, it is an easy fix. plug into a tuner and see if you have the same note at the twelfth fret as you have with the twelfth fret harmonic (doesn't matter which string). Let us know if it is the same or different, and we can help you. Matty

I am building one, and I had a question for all you knowledgable people. My box will have two layers of 3/4" plywood with 2" in between. would it isolate better if I left 2" of air space, or would it be better to put some fiberglass insulation in there. Thanks Matty
