Why are tube amps so expensive?

That'll move a bit of air. :)

I just got it back yesterday from the amp tech. I hooked it up last night and dimed the preamp and put the master on 4. It was loud. Tomorrow I'm gonna move the cab out to the hallway and crank it with a mic in front.

that thing's gonna inspire you to be a guitar-frontman live. I can see it now ..... greg playing power chords ..... windmilling his arm as he rocks out with his cock out!

It already has. I don't play my music live, but I'm starting to think about it.

Isn't that how teh gerg always plays?

Not live. I usually play drums. And I'm about as non flashy as you can get behind the kit. I just sit there and play. No faces, no stick twirls, no flourishes, no head bobbing, nothing. I'm the most uninteresting live drummer ever.

Cool, my DSL only sounds good with the master way up and channel down.

I tried a few DSL's. I used to like them way back when, and then I started hating them with the whole nu-metal movement, but with a fresher outlook I kinda like them again. You can get them things for cheap down here.

I've come to realize that no tubed Marshall sounds truly good unless you got it cranked with the power tubes melting down and the speakers about to tear apart.

Well, for starters, I was right in the thread that created your intense butthurt. You know the one that got into engine talk? The one in which you show that you have terrible reading comprehension and/or don't have a clue wtf you're talking about.

Oh, the thread that you started making apples to oranges comparison, and still refuse to admit how inappropriate it is to make those kinds of fundamentally flawed comparisons, because you're too afraid to let your ego take a hit and admit you were wrong?

Mmm hmm. Sure thing there, chief.

I already admitted it was apples and oranges, dummy. That's the only way you can compare a 4 and an 8, dummy. You have to enhance a 4 to make it act like an 8, in which case, it's acting like an 8, dummy.

There's nothing wrong about that. A 4 can act like an 8, and you are a dummy.

You seem upset, what's up dude? :)

Did you get the JJ EL34L tubes or just the EL34?

I really like the JJ EL34L's...

The regular EL34's. It had the L's in it, but the amp tech said something about the bias range of my amp being better suited for the non L tubes, and the L's that were in it were cooked. I just took his word for it.

I didn't think there was much of a difference in the bias setting between the two.

I don't know. I just nodded along. He's supposedly the Marshall guru of Houston (he was highly recommend by tone snobs around here), so I just went with it. The E34L's that were in it were in pretty bad shape though, and they weren't that old, so it seemed plausible to me. He said the regular JJ EL34's would be better for my amp.

Yea, I'm not really into changing and modding shit anyway, maybe stick a v30 speaker in a combo but I pretty much keep everything as is.
