let's see.....I think the Russians?? Unless you count communism as slavery. The japanese? And actually I think the Chinese have never been enslaved ever, unless by the japs. And the Scandanavians? Anybody here know?
plus Jimi was probably a great grandson of a slave, living in the country that enslaved them. The cultural differences are huge, not to mention how much less money they've all got considering the head start all of the whites descendants have had in this country and economy.
Listen to James Brown, then listen to the Beatles. Rythm is pure soul, Melody is pure smarts (not that rythm isnt smart). How many black kids you know can afford a garage for a garage band. lol. That's why they make rap. Even if you could sell enough drugs to afford drums, and STILL buy more drugs to sell, where the hell you gunna play them in the projects??! And then good luck finding another ganster guitarist and gangsta bassist. Lol. Rap is A OK in my book, unless its that new stuff. Rappers with money aren't rappers, they pop stars and sloganites. Punk is dead too. I think Psych Folk and Rap are the only real popularized forms of "peoples music" that still excite young kids today, tho. Unless something else new, exciting, dramatic, dangerous, expansive, and sexy comes around. Hopefully it'll be able to revolve around a guitar. But I can't really cling to melody. It's not fun, or even that hard to do. Rythm is where it's at. James Brown and soul/funk. Fugazi, Nation Of Uylesses and the Post Hardcore Punk movement. The early stages of Rap (not hip hop), And even Igor Stravinsky. He alone is proof, that rythm is greater than melody. People always hate what's new. They tried to kill him and the orchestra on opening night!!!!
When it comes to music, I'm full on socialist. In Canada small music venues and indipendant bands and labels are subsidized by the government!! What a way to keep the kids occupied and off the streets! What a way to enrich the culture!

(I was still joking about the rap mics under 100 tho)
