Page and Hendrix were good, but Mick is a virtuoso, a musical genius, and the best guitarist... no, musician, to walk the face of this or any other planet in the solar system... in high heel boots.

They have both influenced many people and have a great catalogue of music. I dont think asking which one is better is even a valid question.
 
hendrix tone sucked?

"castles made of sand", "little wing" and "voodo chile (slight return)" sound like pretty damn good tone to me.

Page isn't even in the same league with Hendrix IMO.

They were BOTH great at what they did...Playing, soloing, writing...and people forget that they were/are great producers, too.
 
questions like these are pointless... it's like asking "what's better Apples or Oranges". They both had amazing things coming from their fingers... as did so many other great guitarists...

Besides the answer is CLAPTON ;)
 
Could someone please explain this obsession so many guitar players have with who is "better?" At a certain point, they are all good, and it isn't a question of "better," but only a question of does it speak to you right this moment? Anything else is pointless, counterproductive, and obnoxious as hell to the rest of the world. (You know the joke: How many guitarists does it take to screw in a light bulb? Four. One to screw it in, and 3 to say they could have done it better.) Give up on the competition, and listen to the music. You'll be much happier.

acctually ...thats what i did ....my son james...after the two j's...no brainer really!.. but if i had to choose i would be forced to say hendrix because he was simply coming from some place else ....with page i can understand and see what makes him tick but with hendrix i just think wtf!!

Page is better. Jimi's playing went downhill when he died.
 
Zepp has t be my fave band to listen to of all time, and its only beacuse of stairway being my fave song also that i say Jimmy, but Jimi was so f**king good aswell!
