Dead is better

Mr Paige is alive, therefore less of a risk taker. Hendrix was bold as love, as he said in 'If 6 were 9' "If all the hippies cut off all their hair, I don't care, I don't care". Besides Hendrix was the front man of his band and Paige was only the guitarist.

i think jimi was a better straight on guitar man -- better solos, more inventive, great rythyms --

but jimmy was a rocker, came up with some GREAT riffs, and was a composer moreso.

So its hard to decide.

but who cares anyway?

ok time to sound in ...whos better jimi or jimmy?

They are both different. You cannot say 1 or the other is better. If you could have a competition like this, there would only be 1 best guitarist in the world.

All artists/musicians do what they do. If you like it, good, if you don't, good.

Out of all the Jim g. players, it's gotta be Jim Hall for me - hands down/no contest.

Hendrix played outside of the box and took the g. places no g. had gone before - but it might have helped if he hadn't been so casual with his tuning. Probably the aggressive manner in which he bent notes on light gauge strings left the g. slightly out of tune for the duration of the most of the song. Page was a great rock guitarist, where as Hendrix was rock/jazz in my book.

But like I say... Jim Hall.

Jim Halls intonation and tuning has always been spot on.. Can you tell us all why bending a light gauge "g" string, either wound or plain (he uses both on occasion, .22 0r .19, his signiture set is an unwound .18) on a well set up and maintained 175 or one of two D'Aquisto's would lead him to be casual with his tuning? Or for that matter why bending these strings would cause them to go out of tune? It simply isn't the case..

I think it is a bad question...since Jimi is "better" but they "both kick ass".

lol, that's like asking what's better: a blowjob, or a swift kick in the nuts.....

Muttley,

I'm refering to Hendrix here, not Hall. Hall, as you say, has always been spot on in the tuning and intonation department. He is the king of laid back, mellow, phat, warm, clean tone not to mention his superb musicality and musicianship. Pity he is past his prime. It will be a very sad day when he passes on for me.

Ah my bad.

Hendrix's state of mind probably had more to with any tuning issues than his strings or his guitar though I would suspect.

hendrix had tuning problems but he knew it, you can see him tune while playing, and even using that as part of his solos and fills. I think hendrix had more soul. But that's just my opinion. He WAS descendant from slaves mind you...

Besides, how would Jimmy have played without Jimi???

This is just my take.

I would contribute and say Jimi, but then I remembered that they both pale in comparison to double glazing, and in close second I had trouble deciding between velux windows and non-stick frying pans. Peanut Butter wa also close in the running. So I'm not going to say anything.

New poll: which question is more pointless, the Jimmy v Jimi one, or "Which is the best mic for rap under $100?" I'd argue the former.

I don't know. There are alot of good mics for rap out there under 100$...........
