Am I the only one who caught this?

Although, Slash playing with Velvet Underground could be interesting. I mean, they all have Heroin in common. :D

:D :D :D :D Ooopsy. I ain't gonna edit it, it's too funny.

I will edit this though: a couple of guys in my dorm stole a roadsign, "Velvet Antler Lane". Pretty sweet.

Also note I did not confuse Revolver with Fog!

what a fucking stupid question !!!!!

metal can't be killed!!!

I send a hearty Ronnie James Dio sign to you- "yeah yeah"

There is no question that Nirvana killed that part of the metal- but Firehouse did a damn good job of causing some limp dicks along the way- thank you very much...

in the 80's Metal in general got used up by over marketing. For every Metallica you had a toilet full of Winger and Bon Jovi (my vote). Though no one can dispute that Bon Jovi's Anti Metal-ness they had the stage show, hair, video's, guitar solo's, and all the other crap that Metal had in their bag of tricks. Nirvana came along just when the public had been over fed to the point of explosion. Nirvana didn't have the real stuff to overthrow Metal and only had the power to remind us of how overblown Metal had become.

a funny story I heard one time goes like this. Someone said to Mike the talentless from Loverboy "don't you just love that Nirvana" and he supposedly blew a gasket "NO! They ruined my career!"

Paul Harvey kills me of boredom

And old age killed James Stewart, who once befriended a 6 ft tall invisible rabbit named Harvey.

And now you know... the rest of the story.

Good... Day?

A not so interesting tidbit regarding my personal memory of Firehouse... I always sang "Baby, don't treat me bad. This could be the best thing you'll ever have" as "Baby, don't give me crabs. This could be the best blue ointment I've ever had."

Because I'm super clever like that.

But seriously, they did single handedly kill metal. I'll never forget the time their video aired on Headbanger's Ball. They sucked so hard that I wanted to find them and fight them. I wanted to beat them to death with Riki Rachtman. No, really. I'm not lying. I felt that urge. Strongly.

How can you kill metal when its got guys like Immortal on its side?

Who were those Black guys that had a heavy metal band?

No, that's In Living Color.

Living Colour was a band. You know..."Cult Of Personality". Or maybe you don't.

Living Colour was awesome. Vernon Reid is a smoking guitar player. Their singer Corey Glover is Danny Glover's son. He also did some acting, played the dude that stabs himself in the leg in the movie Platoon.

There was also Ice-T's Body Count. Best known for pissing off people with the tune Cop Killer. Good times.

Haha, I had "Cop Killer" stuck in my head at work yesterday for like an hour. You can't top such masterful lyrics as "I got this long-ass knife".

Ha, yeah. "Long ass", that's descriptive AND deep. I still play that guitar riff from There Goes The Neighborhood. I like to bust it out at Guitar Center and see if anyone remembers it. Generally, they don't.

Totally wrong options in the voting list.
The NWOBHMetal & Pop Hair Silly, Nu metal, Speed Metal, Death Metal & Metallica did it.
That is to say...
Def Leppard, Iron Maiden & that whole laughable genre followed by Poison, Motley Crue & that joke list then Twisted Sister & their ilk then the laughing in their cups Death boys & the speed turned pretty stuff by noted covers band Metallica lowered the standard, stakes and cache of metal from which it has not yet recovered.
Asia, Foreigner and similar prog/metal/blah bands didn't help any either.
& the final nail in the coffin - that digital distortion genre spanning/defining sound used by everyone from AAFarm to anyone down on the farm.

Learn to use commas and periods, you made no sense...anyways EXPLAIN how Metallica is a part of this

Has "I can't argue so I'll resort to grammatical critiques" become the new mantra or just a paraphrase from the new Metallica album St. Disquiet?
Two possibly redundant commas, (& they only belong in terms of subclauses), and a THEN replacement later you'll find the fact remains that of the above listed horrors Metallica went furthest in capturing, with guile & ultra slick AOR production values, the imagination of the non metal public & reducing the genre to something as simple as the selection of a certain type of distortion pedal.
It may be important for you to note, myhatbroke, that you left your command without the apropriate punctuation to give it its command status. Further anyways isn't really a word.
More importantly: where I come from the second punctuation mark you referred to is known, (correctly, I might add), as a full stop. This being a case of nomative determinism as its name describes its role: to stop fully for reasons of breath or the clarification of meaning.
Inappropriate use of the semi colon was once the determinator of one's status as either literate or otherwise. I hadn't realised that the bar had been raised in terms of this thread. Sorry. I shall try harder in future.
Until then I remains yours sincerely,
Not a Metallica fan.
UNnecessary qualification!
I don't hate Metallica. Honestly!
I just don't think much of them at all, that's all.
I do hate Limp Biskit, but that's an entire other story.
Bring back Apostrophe Man!

I can only speak for were I come from.

Metal hasent got much airplay in comercial shows, but that does noit mean its dead.

In the hairspray 80`s you had all these hairspray bands with ballads, kinda louring you into beliving that metal was bigger then.
That was never metal, the bands were but the song that got aired werent.

I have a few friends in the extreeme metal generee.

And its alive and kicking, Black metal is one of (if not nr1) the biggest exports of norwegian music.

In the later years more and more Metal band emerges, more and more festivals and shows.

UDO the german rockers just had a sucsessfull show in my hometown.

Black metal is now accepted in the norwegian media, act such as Satyricon have been signed by EMI. wich is rare for underground music.

They also were one of the headliners on a radio show in our capital (free concert that aired on our National Broadcasting channel on prime time last saturday.

I think the Fin`s (people from Finland) were one of the first to really open up theire Comercial valves to the extreme metal scene.

Dimmu Borgir was once NR1 in theire Top of the pops, that was way before it was family entertainment in Norway :D

So metal is not dead, at least here it aint, and thank God for that...
