Crank up the drums and put some vocals on it. I dig the tune and what you've done with it but it just ain't got enough horse power to make it just as an intrumental.:cool:
 
I was gonna put some indecipherable blabbering howling in the middle, but I hate my voice, so I did'nt :) Turn up the drums, eh? I could do that, sure. I'll consider that. I had some problems with some levels previously. I just like doing instrumentals, but I agree that some parts really need vocals.
 
you definately have lots of talent! I agree with the vocs thing--it would sound great but hey, nothing wrong with an instrumental. I love the mood swings, I cant really say anything wrong about it! (not that i want to :))

are those real drums?

this one totally reminds me of DREAM THEATER!!!

Yeah. I guess the instrumentals are just way hard to write so they work and don't scream: "I need vocals!"

I can't say I'm surprised you mentioned DT, since I've been listening to "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" a lot since I bought it a few days ago. Although I made this song after I've heard just two DT songs (Metropolis pt. 1 & Pull Me Under). And most of the riffs were made before I had heard any DT.
 
I just figured out your problem Cranky, you signed up two artists with exactly the same name under your user account, and you uploaded one song to each.

On your artists interface you will see two 'CrankyOnes', go to one of thems album manager, then mp3 manager, and move the one song to the other artist. You will know this worked when you see both songs in the mp3 manager.

Then delete the other artist so there is no more confusion!

I remember creating accidentally two CrankyOne's there way back then, but I deleted the other. I guess it still haunts me. I can only see 1 CrankyOne in the artist adminstration thingy...
 
I'll make the adjustments for you, yes, you did delete the other artist, that's where your song was!

I really like this one! It's a lot of fun to listen to. I like the mood swings, meter changes, use of odd meters (common time is sooo common sometimes) and your chops are awsome! The playing is all very tight, very in the pocket!

My favorite part is from 4:33 til the end. Very swanky stuff. Maybe you could get Lt. Bob (I hear he's a general now) to throw some horns in that part?

I could hear Mr. Bungle singing to this.

Very cool! You did an excellent job of transitioning between some pretty dissimilar segments. For me, thats what really makes this song work. It sounds like a song, not some pieces pasted together.

This is really cool! There are some great riffs in here..Nice guitar playing.. a couple of clams in the clean part, but far superior than anything I can do on guitar.. I really like this one a lot.. I think some vocals or extra sounds would help, but it's great... and it sounds great.

Cranky One, what are you tuned to, is it standard E?

the drums also sound great to me.. I would maybe turn them up a bit like Track Rat said....not too much though.. There are many cool parts in this tune.....the whistling is not one of them..:D

it does sound to me like a medely though.

I was thinking you could treat an instrumental like a song a little.
Where you have parts that you repeat and it makes a theme of sorts and easier to follow.

I agree with others about bringing up the drums just a little, other then that it's mixed very well IMHO.

And did I say great playing. very tight. like it

Yes. That's what I always use, since my guitar is pretty bad. It doesn't even stay in tune for long, anyway, so I haven't tried any different tunings much.

I'm glad you liked the drums. I was a little hesitant, since I used a different kick this time, but I guess it worked. I usually get bored using the same drums / guitar settings all the time, but I didn't want to meddle too much with the guitar. Just something different with the drums, and I guess I still have a bit of tweaking on the volume on that one.


There are many cool parts in this tune.....the whistling is not one of them..:D


I knew you wouldn't like it. As a matter of fact, I don't think anybody will like that part (except maybe me). I made it just to piss people off :D (maybe that's not a good reason to do music :) ). I was thinking, that this song would sound too much like a serious prog-metal song, so I tried to surprise people, and that part seemed so un-metal.

I'm flattered, but I'm horrible at playing tightly. And I'm not just being modest, you know. My songs are really a perfect example what you can do with cut & paste. It takes maaaaaany takes to get it right. But, thanks anyway :D

I don't know that tune by metallica but I think you got the idea.

As far as tight playing :D well, you fooled me. Let say you play tight with your ctrl-C, ctrl-V combinations. :D

Most excellent tune! If ya don't mind me asking, what did you use for the git sound. I like it. And you can't get rid of the whistling, I was ROFLMAO.
