It's a shame that it's still not so well known.
I recently upgraded from v7 to v10 and it is just such an incredibly outstanding DAW.

cubase!

good stuff built in with it, not to hard to use, you can easily add stuff on to it vis VST plugins, so its all i need :)

There seems to be lots of software on the list, but Reaper isn't up there. I used to use Pro Tools, but have since defected to Reaper. It's way more awesome, except when my stupid teachers make us use our studio here, so I'm stuck with Pro Tools sessions.

Just a thought....this poll was started in 2001! Maybe someone ought to start another one to reflect the options available in 2008. Like Reaper.

im sure there is good reason to start a fresh part2 poll....7 years is a long time in this game.

Yeah, and put Ardour and other Open Source software on the list as well, otherwise you have to start all over again in 2 years.
I'm currently testing Ubuntu Studio, which contains Ardour.
I still have to find my way tho.

i'm new to the board, and from what i can see in this thread... i must be the odd-man out.

i've recorded 8 cd's (metal) using Magix Music Maker 10 & 12 (working on my 9th currently). i played the guitar & bass through a M-Audio Fast Track USB, though now i use Guitar Rig 3 (love it), and "sort-of program" the drums using the sounds from DFH.

before that, i recorded 9 cd's using (of all things) MTV music generator 2 on the playstation 2 and adding the vocals on a very basic 4-track.

i've also toyed around with Acid Pro 6 and Ableton Live 6 (and now 7).

in case anyone wants to hear, i've got songs on myspace (mypace.com/tribalpythonmusic).

thanx

I just upgraded from an older cakewalk to Sonar 7. So far, I love it. It seems stable, but I imagine that alot of that has to do with your computer set-up. I have 2 ghz dual core processors with 2 gigs of ram.
Thanks All! :)

iiiiiiii

use ableton live 7.......and pro tools.......and reason........and hahah i guess u could say i have tried some of them out there but not all

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, as I didn't read the whole thread, but Reaper by Cockos is damn cheap and excellent for the money.

I have used it along with Logic and Cubase and find it really good, and getting even better.

Nuendo user here. I've also done some great things with Samplitude.

I'm using good ol' Acid. Trying to get Pro Tools but it works for the time being.

I just voted for Samplitude. I use Samp 9 and I think it's the best for audio recording. The main reason is the objects, it's so easy to work with them!!

cool edit pro 2.1 and Acid Pro 6, althought I got Adobe Audition 3, i use cool edit pro 2.1 because its a lighter and faster program

I'm a new member, this is my 2nd visit. Where can I download some of the software in this poll? I have a lot to learn.
The poll percent seemed higher on my last visit. Is it current? Or does it start all over each day or week?
Thanks!
Bevmoda

those software are plain packages.. if you want more like effects and plugins try the IXL free VST plugins search page: Free VST Plugins

Acid is a good sound recording tool. I was able to try cakewalk too and it works for me. I recorded drum sounds and manipulating the sounds with this software is pretty easy with it!
